Death threats

Thu Jan 08, 2015 6:46 pm

These responses to Ched Evans attempts to get back into football disgust me.
If they can identify those who used threats of violence, and even death, to force Oldham Athletic to change their mind should themselves be prosecuted. It is as shameful as CEs earlier behaviour. Two wrongs dont make a right. For the record Iheres my earlier posted view which I stand by.
Lengee wrote:I am not one to defend a convicted rapist. Obviously all rapes are totally wrong regardless of the morals / behaviour of the alleged victim. That said there is always a question of degree. If you look at the facts of the case it is not at all clearcut. There is a good article in the Sunday Times today which outlines the facts:
It appears that at about 4am the girl involved invited herself to go back to the hotel for sex with CEs best mate, but she was too drunk to recall exactly what happened. They had only met a short time beforehand. That said, allegedly CE later entered the room and took advantage of the girls drunken state to have sex with her. She was not in a state to give permission. So CE behaved totally wrongly in doing that. He was subsequently convicted and has served 2 1/2 years in prison. Read the article for the facts as reported. Based on the article, I think it will be a close call if his appeal against conviction was successful.
In my view I think CEs behaviour was totally out of order. But he has served his time and should now be allowed to try to pursue his career.

On a related point on the front page of the paper there is a headline right next to the CE story about Prince Andrew. It is alleged that his billionaire friend had an underage girl who he procured for Prince Andrew to have sex with in various locations and who was effectively treated as a sex slave in the slave traficking industry. Andrew denies it. Wheras CE.s case has everyone up in arms,it seems that there was under the counter bargaining that took place in this case various people in high office ensured that the story is effectively gagged. For me this stinks. If true, the allegations are worse than the CE story and yet where the higher echeleons of our society are involved the full facts never seem to come out until after culprits etc are dead and buried.

Disgraceful also people are quick enough to sign a petition.

theirs a big difference beetween intentional planned rape and sharing a hotel room with
some drunk potential gold digger tart who laps up the wag scene hot spots.

given the circumstances I think both are to blame but ched evans certainly isnt in the same boat as
other rapists he may even be partially innocent and shes made an overhype of it.

The guy should play in fact he could do a job for cardiff and wales

Ched Evans is a convicted rapist and shouldn't be let anywhere near a football club which are very much family orientated.
Prince Andrew has been convicted of what offence?

Road runner I didn't say that Prince Andrew had been convicted. I said that the allegations were far worse, but because of a gag on the matter being taken further, we will not know the truth. But thousands of people aren't petitioning or sending death threats to say that the facts must be heard. Double standards and it stinks - try reading the post before replying.

On the CE issue you are entitled to your opinion. His behaviour was totally wrong Full stop. And the victim has my sympathies-her ID should never have been revealed. BUT My point is that he served his sentence and it was not a vicious clearcut rape. Most signing petitions have no idea of the facts. If his appeal against convction is successful do you still say he should be nowhere near a football club?
He has had his trial and served his sentence and they should let him get on with his life.

Well done Steve Bruce for giving his own view and sPeaking common sense. He has said those who petition against CE being signed should first read the facts! He admited that he was one of the managers who agreed with Oldhams actions. Although we should comdemn CEs behaviour it is time to let him move on.
Never thought Id send a post supporting an ex Man Utd captain.!
