Cardiff City fans hope for return to blue as crunch meeting offers chance for unity

A selection of Cardiff City supporters' representatives have been invited to a meeting with chairman Mehmet Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo

Cardiff City fans are hoping to see the Bluebirds reunited again as the most important event in three years takes place at Cardiff City Stadium tomorrow evening.

At the behest of owner Vincent Tan, City chairman Mehmet Dalman and chief executive Ken Choo will meet a cross-section of around 40 supporters’ representatives for a consultative meeting on the best way forward for the club.

Consultative is the key word here. There have been no promises or pledges from anyone.

However, three things are on the agenda: the colour of the kit, club crest and future finance – and they will each be discussed.

For the first time, it seems, the club is prepared to have a re-think on the red shirts.

Given recent events, that makes tomorrow’s meeting infinitely more significant than any football match because it can bring harmony back to a football club split down the middle.

While City’s Malaysian owner Tan has not made any specific pledges to supporters, he has held out the hand of friendship and is willing to listen to their views.

Those invited to the meeting will drive the agenda and they are hoping to see the club return to its traditional colours as soon as possible.

They are also keeping their fingers crossed the go-ahead is given for a club crest incorporating a more prominent bluebird, and also for positive news over future finance.

Dalman and Choo will report back details of the meeting to Tan in Malaysia. Fans around South Wales will then hope the owner takes decisive action.
