That's what makes the transfer window surprising, we never truly know what is going on behind the scenes until deals are done. Sometimes the rumours are correct.

If this is true its tantamount to ridiculous & just highlights Slade complete misunderstanding of anything above league 1!

It just proves this level is above his level of competence & ability, he can't
impose detailed tactics or formations to utilise the players in his squad as he doesn't know how to.
He can only play the simple basic 442 which went out with the ark hence his need to go for basic
simplistic players who can adopt that way of play & they are an abundance in the lower leagues.
