Alex McCarthy and David Marshall on Everton radar as Toffees eye keeper swoop
Cardiff's David Marshall and Alex McCarthy of QPR are among the names on Everton's list of potential replacements.
Toffees boss Roberto Martinez said: 'There are a couple of options I feel could fit really well but I wouldn't just bring in anyone who stops the development of a youngster.
'I would rather make it a long-term signing. I don't think short-term would be a solution for us now.'
Norwich's John Ruddy, Ali Al Habsi of Wigan, Sergio Romero of Sampdoria and Feyenoord's Erwin Mulder have also been mentioned.

This would be a great move for Marshall, he should grab it with both hands so to speak

We will be ok as I'm sure a good like for like replacement can be found in the 1st division. Eventually all of our component parts will represent a poor mans Cardiff City!
I heard Slade is transforming his mini into a skip, all he needs is to finish ripping the guts out of it and removing the roof and a pile of shit to put in it. Its cheap on fuel because its not going anywhere and it stinks to high heaven. Its not even the right f@@king colour either!

As city74 said. If we get an offer of around £6mil we should take it. He's not been the same this season. We could then potentially have a look at say Hennessey who's not featuring much for palace.
Then again slade will prob look to rochdale or yorks keeper....

With Simon Moore and Joe Murphy allready here(loan recall if needed). And the young keeper from Sunderland coming through the academy. Would we need a replacement ?

They way things are at the moment I wouldnt not be surprised if Moore was given the opportunity to ste p up. Means we have Marshy off the wage bill and get a fee without having to pay out any more money on a replacement.

Moore is a very decent keeper who has great athleticism and height, as well as sharp reactions and decent positioning - he is very young and as we know all keepers improve with age.
Shame to lose Marshy, some of his reaction saves are truly world class, but every dog has his day and I for one would applaud him if he moved back to the Premiership with Everton, which is a top club.

I agree Marshall has not been the same as he was in the Premier League and for £6m now would be great offer that we can't refuse! Plus I agree with you with Hennessey great Welsh keeper who isn't playing for Palace would be a good acquisition to the team and for Wales!

Remember marshy only just signed a new contract, he must want to go to make anything happen. He wasn't interested in sitting on the bench at Arsenal, so why do we think sitting on the bench at Everton would be appealing.

who cares about such minor details when it makes a good headline?
why would a club like everton spend over £6m on a number 2 keeper? it won't happen.

Would be a great move for him, I thougth they might have moved for him in the summer.
Why do people think he would be second choice? Last I read Howard was out for 6 weeks, a great chance for him to cement himself as the number one choice and also baring in mind howard in nearly 36 the move makes complete sense.
and to be honest with all the cut backs I think it makes sense for us to cash in on him, I felt we should have in the summer.

If we get a good offer, it might not be a bad thing to sell him. Simon Moore has proved to be a more than good enough replacement and it will mean we can have an outfield player as our captain, which will help!

He's happy settled in Rhiwbina, on a great wage, on a great contract and guaranteed first team football, I can't see him leaving us while we are in the Championship.

We need to remove the weight of the captaincy from his shoulders and he'll start performing better. We also need to put a better defence in front of him!
To be honest, I wouldn't be worried about Simon Moore becoming our number one if Marshall left. Given a run of games I think Moore could develop really well. I do love Marshall though and would be gutted to see him leave.

Love marshy great keeper and loyal but I would cash in and give Moore who has the potential to be a top keeper that chance. Balance the books, kairdiff kids in

Should grab it with both hands. He's rotting at Cardiff this season.

Wouldn't go that far, he's set very very high standards and can step up the plate as we seen.

Would Marshall really be interested in moving his family to Liverpool to be maybe Everton's third choice keeper?

I'm not saying he's shit, I'm saying his career will go downhill if he stays here.
