THIS MEETING AND WHY I THINK IT HAS BEEN CALLED

Tue Jan 06, 2015 1:45 pm

Friday nights game I honestly feel has had a bigger effect on the management than we all appreciate.

I was quite surprised when Slade commented on his team having to create their own atmosphere and also when he mentioned about getting the fans back. I recall Wimbledon going through the same thing when they said they were moving to Milton but there was no reaction from their management. It makes me wonder if Slade is dropping hints here.

Now we have this meeting which if this was a normal business would be called an emergency. Emergency meeting are only known in football when a star player of the club is in trouble or wants out etc etc. When has a football club suddenly called a meeting overnight with the fans?

Then it made we wonder. This time last year our stadium was fairly full. Yes our troubles were about to start but we were all still there. One year later we have the smallest crown ever. All this and other things are getting back to Malaysia. We all know about that report in the Malaysian times where they have told Tan to return us to blue. Now they will be reporting an empty stadium making out that Tan has killed a football club. Tan wants to invest in football he has the bug and he cannot afford to have this on his CV.

Things are going unprecedently fast at the moment. I think someone is cracking. I think now is the time we all put our difference aside, unite and get the message over how much we want our blue back. As much anger we have inside us that has been built up over the last 3 seasons lets put that to the side and be polite. Now is the time to be polite.

I think the best we can hope for is Tan will return us to Blue but expect MAJOR cut backs in every department. Some may say thats started anyway.

I really hope its a return to blue but I think people are being overally optimistic.

Yes you are spot on.

If Tan is serious about investing in football clubs in America, they will see what he has done to Cardiff, they wouldnt want him making decisions like he has done here and create a fallout with american fans with a growing interest in football over there.

Hope its back to blue he'll get the crowds back and he will look better to people looking in rather than people looking out.

Its all about his ego and the way he is seen by other people and businesses

Whilst we all want a return to blue Tan will remember the red or dead claims, I believe he is going to try and force the hand of us fans; sorry customers, and call a halt to any investment unless we start towing the line an support the rebrand. Dictatorship at its best! I don't think he will give in just yet and risk losing one of his faces.

Just my thoughts. But I do see something of a large stand off coming.

That said, I also believe the smaller the attendances, the less that renew and the bigger the protests the more his choices will be limited. He is into us for £100mil I believe, an awful big loss for him to take, so hopefully, he will do no more than keep us afloat until new investment can be found.

Time will tell.

it is certainly a plausible explanation for the massive cutbacks tan is making. it shows the power that fans yield, even in this day and age. if the crowd would have been 15,000 fans all chanting for blue, the club would ignore them, but empty stadia are something that every owner dreads.

is this part of an exit strategy? change back to blue, get the fans back in the stadium, divert parachute payments to make sure the debts to tan are satisfied, and balance the books by getting rid of high earners and replacing them with league one players?

Hasn't he already stopped investment ? Well not putting any money in for past 6mnths or longer! But if he was to say no more investment fans will say good dont! tan will be only one looking bad to outside media here and Malaysia..

What do some fans expect they want tan out and blue great but don't moan when guy stops paying the bills and goes as you want him to,and as regards questions at meeting I have seen nothing in club statement to say they will Answer questions they are asking for view they won't promise a thing and it's sure thing someone will spout of and ruin it all

Wooooooow- Are we getting ahead of ourselves ?

This is Vinny's agenda we are on.......

Be respectful, polite and united... Info goes back to VT. VT invites Jim Whyte over from SSN for an exclusive. Vinnie states he was poorly advised and because of the fans we go back to blue........then 10 min rant over Malky (I don't care about that)

We all want a return to blue, but lets also get football matters sorted on the field too, or we will still be served shit...

It's like as if slade has 500k to buy 11 players for a league1/2 fantasy football team! These players we are being linked with are ridiculous... Not really setting the world alight at league 1! The latest a 31 yr old striker, gone past his prime! Hoe is that planning and rebuilding ?

If we are going to keep with this journeyman then he needs help and fast. Get him a top number 2 to help!, otherwise get rid. He's shocking...

Hahaha. Great summary of a VT media piece.

The obvious point to make in all this is that returning to blue will solve a lot. I don't think VT realises just how much potential our club has. If we had stayed blue and got promoted to the Premier League I have no doubt that we'd have stayed up. The atmosphere around the club and stadium and the momentum. It all would have helped us.

That didn't happen. VT now has a great opportunity here to rectify his mistake. It isn't like he will be cutting his losses either. A return to blue could be the start of him earning everything back and more. My mate who is a Wolves fan said that getting relegated to League One was the best thing that could have happened to them. It allowed the club to re-evaluate and the club is now looking healthier than ever. I'm not saying we need relegation to improve us but maybe a year or two at this level will give us time to rebuild both on and off the pitch after a turbulent few years.

This is a fantastic chance for both supporters and VT to forgive and move on. I'm not saying forget. Nobody will forget. For the benefit of the club, we need to swallow our pride and look to progress for the sake of the club. A return to blue with our old badge is the goal. A return to blue without the old badge is a start that I'd be willing to accept as a goodwill gesture. I agree, Tan didn't show any goodwill gestures with us but that's what makes us the great club we are. We are better than that.

The timing of this meeting doesn't surprise me when I was trying to think why he would call a meeting?

I clicked on that the uproar among supporters saying they won't renew, won't go to games.. maybe Tan and the board are a bit scared?

Maybe we put Tan and co on the back foot and they want fans to renew and get on board?

Renewals are usually next month.. not the worst logic.
