Did Vincent Tan lose Face in Malaysia on Friday????

Did he lose Face in Malaysia on Friday????

The FA Cup is a worldwide respected trophy and as such with us playing the first game of the round in a virtually
empty stadium must have been an eye opener!!!!!!
If Tan's 'yes' men have been telling him it is just a minority, well tuning in to the game must have made his ask
questions of his advisors????

Is this the reason he has instructed this meeting to take place

Again i ask the question....... Has Vincent Tan been told the truth about what is going on down here or are
his 'advisors' lining their own pockets whilst he takes the wrap for everything????

Speculation, yes, ridiculous. possibly not.

Tan has not been to a game this season. God knows if / how long he has been in the country for at all. It's entirely possible for his underlings to have been playing down everything with fan feeling etc. and telling him things are alright. It's just a minority of fans etc.

Feed him the official attendance, including season tickets and he'll see a fairly respectable figure. possibly that could make him think maybe they are telling the truth, it's a minority, most are ok with things.

You know what, even IF he just pretends he knows nothing about bad feeling in the club and this is all news to him. even IF he pretends he had no idea and thought everything was ok I would grab that with both hands as it's at least an admission from him that everything is not alright and is the sort of thing that somebody says just before they start changing things...

It's hopeful, yes. It's maybe unlikely. But I'm an optimistic chap and anything that gets us one step closer is a good thing

what is this thing about 'losing face' that people always talk about with vincent tan?

i've never seen this concept discussed about other owners, can someone explain it to me?

Losing face isn't really a problem for most owners because more often than not they listen to the fans. BUT it is the same losing face that happens with all other stubborn people the world over

Not the whole story, GSO, the problem with "loosing face" or more to the point - perceived to be backing down (ie, loosing face) by fellow south east Asian people (Malaysia, Indonesia, Thai, Philippines, Vietnamese, Cambodia) is a given.

Although slightly different culture, the Japanese "death before dishonor" (WWII) - they would rather kill themselves than surrender ( In their culture that would be the ultimate shame)

so, if vincent tan decided one morning he was going to wear sandals, and the weather changed drastically such that it was now -20C, would he decide that he wouldn't want to lose face and wear them regardless?

if you make a decision that proves to be the wrong one, does the not wanting to lose face mean that you ignore all the rational reasons to change your mind? effectively thats what tan is doing here. i call that irrational stubbornness, or even plain stupidity.

yes it does make you stupid, nobody is arguing that. But this isn't just a case of him wearing sandals and then needing to change later.

In this scenario, he met with his friends every day for two years and said. You know what, on [this date] I am going to wear sandals. And all his friends said Vinnie, no, it will be horrible on that day. It will be snowing and it will not be a good thing to wear sandals. then every day for two years people said don't do it, it's a bad decision and every day he said no, screw you, I'm wearing sandals.

After a couple of days of saying no, he might have gone back and said, ok you're right and things would have been ok. but after saying no this is my decision and the right decision for two years it's easy to see how he could "lose face" here
