Boycotting a League Match ?

Fri Jan 02, 2015 10:45 pm

Look how the stadium looked tonight. Surely it would show a signal of intent from our fans, I for one would support it.

If no progress is achieved from the march and the show of blue against Brighton then maybe this should be the next step.

Agree. A sky game would be ideal.

What's the point when we've already paid for our season tickets?

Although it would be funny to see 10,000 season ticket holders boycott and the club still announce the attendance as 22,000 due to tickets sold :laughing6:

Sacrifice needs to be made. However I cannot see enough people boycotting as they have paid up already.

Just as a one off thing. Would get a decent but of coverage from the media, plus we do t exactly play exciting football these days so you wouldn't be missing much. May as well all go on a march before a a game, but not go in. Go to the pub or something

I've paid for my season ticket so it won't make any difference to the club whether I turn up or not. If there's going to be an organized boycott it has to be in the FA Cup against a big club when we've actually got to buy tickets now to attend or next season when thousands of us don't renew.

Jon you really do miss the point sometimes.

Forget the money side, what sort of message do you think an empty stadium would send to Tan. Remember he is trying to balance the books and that is going to be very difficult if there is a possibility that the stadium will be empty. If we could do that for one came this season it certainly would make him think.

My point is that it would take a lot for 16,000 paying season ticket holders to boycott, and I for one wouldn't join in with a half-arsed boycott. It's asking too much. I'm just being realistic Ian.

Agree with you there Jon about getting 16,000 to boycott. It will take a lot of organising and will need the support of certain people like the Trust board members and Supporters clubs. If they made an announcement then it will be a domino effect. Adding to that putting adverts in the local rags to promote a boycott would help as well. A lot off hard work required.

This is correct. It's not about the money it's about the vision.
I agree though, it would have to be an organised properly run event or it wouldn't work.
Probably wouldn't work anyway with our fickle fans.
