' A DESERTED CARDIFF STADIUM,SAW CITY'S YOUNG ONES SAVE THE DAY '

Joe Ralls,Declan John and Kadeem Harris all played well in a unconvincing footballing display, which saw City stroll through to the next round. :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

The draw is on Monday :thumbright:

Will this win kick start our season, a big No from me.
Lets wait on Slades New arrivals.

My View/Opinion

Cardiff City 3 v Colchester 1
FAC Cup 3rd Rd

Crowd 4,194

Team line up
Moore, Brayford, Turner, Connolly, John, Whittingham, Adeyemi, Ralls, Harris, Noone, Macheda.

subs: Wilson, Fabio, Ecuele Manga, Morrison, Kim, Le Fondre, Jones.

A strong Cardiff City team ran out to a near empty stadium against 2nd from bottom Colchester of Division 1.

A small crowd of youngsters tried to gather together to make an atmosphere in the Ninian Stand, but by the 5th minute the City stewards had been ordered in to disperse them :o

Cardiff had just come out of a dismal December to forget. Thrashed by Bournemouth, Brentford and Watford and abject in drawing 0-0 at home to Rotherham and 1-1 away to 10-man Charlton, they have been woeful.

It was a slow start by City against a very poor Colchester team, Cardiff looked like they were lacking in confidence just by how they were passing back instead of forward.

in the 12th minute Joe Ralls had a good shot saved by Colchester's keeper Walker.

In the 18th minute Colchester had a shot saved and then in the 20th minute Colchester had a header just wide of the Cardiff goal

By the 28th minute City had made no real threat on the Colchester goal

Then Declan John had an attempt, followed by a Whittingham corner that went over the far post.

GOAL :thumbright: 33rd minute City scored through a Jo Ralls shot deflected in by a Colchester player :ayatollah:
:ayatollah:

1-0 City :ayatollah:

Adeyemi had a shot saved in the 37th min.

City goalie Moore made a great save in the 38th minute.

Over all City were poor, but thankfully went in winning the game :thumbright:

Half Time City 1 Colchester 0 :ayatollah:

Another slow start by City and then yet again another City youngster Kadeem Harris scores to make it 2-0 :thumbright: in the 52nd minute :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

59th minute Kenwyne Jones for Macheda who contributed nothing.

Bang first touch Jones scores 3-0 :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

Poor marking led to Colchesters goal in the 73rd minute 3-1
Colchester then poured forward.

84th minute Fabio on for a poor Craig Noone :thumbright:

Anxious last 15 minutes as Colchester kept going forward, in the 87th minute Connolly had to kick a certain goal away from the edge of the goal line.

My man of the match Joe Ralls :thumbright: :thumbright:

Full Time City 3 Colchester 1 :ayatollah:

The positive from this game was the City younger ones showed the older City players who were playing, how to win a game and keep going :thumbright: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Next up, a tough game against strugglers Fulham :bluescarf:

Allan,
But it should not come now as were not even in a lower division and not near the bottom of the League,it was the FACUP. I do believe it should of been a crowd of about 9,000.

The kairdiff kids showed desire and enthusiasm with a touch of rawness but it was pleasing to see as they showed more commitment than a lot of the senior pros have lately. :bluescarf:

It would have been 9-10 k without the off field issues or is it the dire football? Think it's a combination of both.

Did feel odd watching a home game on TV. Even the children were confused firstly why I wasn't attending and secondly the fact we were 3-0 up

Annis, i can understand your disappointment with the turnout, but they made a stand against the dictator, sometimes its the only way they listen.

You wont believe this, but our lot (Southampton) playing Ipswich reserves on Sunday in the Cup sold 32,000 tickets a week ago with many missing out, including me (Ipswich bringing 5000), who said the FA Cup is dead?.

Good luck for the season, you deserve better

That's a bit random but good support from both sides, it won't be the norm this weekend. Loved the fa cup as a kid! Magic has gone! Ipswich reserves says it all!

But honest answer would you go? I won't lie, it would test me as never missed a derby game since I started watching ccfc. Shouldn't be in a position where am having to choose. Very sad.
