What's right !!

Fri Jan 02, 2015 11:42 am

To renew or not to renew. Those that didn't from the start, those that won't now ! After a few home games this season for me that is when I decided I will not renew unless the re brand is reversed. Some are doing it now and yes I feel a lot are doing it because the football is awful. Some want to carry on and keep fighting from within. Some are happy full stop.
So who is right ? I suppose no one its personal choice, but the one thread that really did have me thinking and I know a lot will say it's only Daya who can be a wind up merchant (aren't we all) but his theory is don't renew and Shhhhhhh.
But I have been thinking about this one and even though it does sound mad it does make sense given the culture of Asia. Empty seats and no exposure nothing. Tan can't rant at anything that ain't there. :dontknow: But whatever we do we need to stand together and there is the problem because that is never going to happen.
We could wait for these consortiums but I do believe they are only a long shot, Tan dosent want to talk about selling so maybe he dosent want to sell, who knows. But for me I can't support a team any more that dosent hold the values the beliefs and the history of Cardiff City no more. I long for the CCFC of old.

Steve,

A genuine question and not a dig though I appreciate it may sound like.

If you, or any of those who, are not renewing why are you continuing to go to games this season ?

Do you think that by not renewing you will hit Tan/Club in the coffers ?

Or is the thought of empty seats the appeal ?

What is your protest and reason for it ?

Fair question Carl. One I have paid for my ticket till the end of the season and I don't think anyone would buy it. As I said I decided not to renew as I i just don't care now if we win loose or draw it just isn't Cardiff City any more. A protest ? No because when I decided #NoBlueNoRenew wasn't even out then, but I support that 100%. What bothers me is my mates having the craic and having a laugh that is what I don't want to loose. I may do some away because of that reason,and I may go on the piss on match days to catch up. I am trying to explain without being hypocritical so I hope I am not. But thinking logical about it I think Daya has come up with something here, maybe I am wrong ? But perhaps #NoRenewShhhhh is the way Hmmmmmm.
Not having a go at you or Annis for renewing not at all I was trying to explain my choice as for the past few seasons I was the same as you and Annis Protest from within its just I have now changed my thoughts on that one.

Re: What's right !!

I am still going down this year because i have already payed my money to tan ,i thought long and hard about renewing every year since the rebrand but like many of others the whole matchday experience is getting worse by the week ,and i can only imagine what it will be like next year and i dont want to be part of it any longer i had my first season ticket in 1975 and never been this pissed off,we may go on a run and get in the playoffs and scrape our way up but that wont bother me because i didnt enjoy last year, waited a long time for it but it was depressing watching us in red at home against teams in blue so im 100% behind no blue/renew and i think those that go next season should get behind the team and realise that tan aint changing his mind while you are still putting money in his pocket,and i just hope when he has gone i can go back and support the boys.

No one should have a go at Annis for not boycotting.

If anyone wants a boycott campaign then how about looking at more establish organisations instead of a forum owner. How about asking the board members of the Trust or the organisers of the Supporters Club?

The fact that most people I speak to, on the coach at least, say they are quitting home games but will continue to go away doesn't affect Carlos Coaches in that sense.

The forum is doing well Steve, the more negativity surrounding the club the busier forums become, fact of life.

But if you think I am stating I am renewing because of benefits for Carlos Coaches or this forum then you are certainly barking up the wrong tree.

Ian, I believe the issue or renewing or not renewing is a personal and individual choice.

I don't understand the "I have paid for my ticket until the end of the season" but you then say you don't care if we win, lose or draw as it just isn't Cardiff City anymore.

I know people who had a season ticket for years, renewed in the Premier League but walked away whilst in the Premier League because it was hurting them that much, they didn't sit there and continue to watch because they had already paid.

I didn't want those who walked away to do so and I don't want anyone who is blue at heart like you to walk away either as I think without those who hurt and protest continually will effectively be handing it over to Tan and allowing him to do what he wants, when he wants with little opposition.

Daya, the truth is there are different opinions and viewpoints of what is the right way to Demonstrate, I am not saying my view is right but regardless it is what I believe in.

The thing is we've done the protest thing with Tan on several occasions now and its getting boring,Daya is right,there has been a lot that i have'nt agreed with him on,this time he has it spot on,boycott is the only way imo :bluescarf:

I posted the following on a separate thread but hoping that it gets a reply from being posted here (I'm not criticising people but simply interested in their response);

People frequently use the phrase, "just my opinion" on here;

Annis/Carl/other "High Profile Fans" - please answer me this;

Please explain your opinion that renewing Season Tickets is a more effective way of engineering change at our club. How is this a more powerful statement than not renewing, not attending games and holding mass protests outside the ground?

Einstein's definition of insanity
'Doing something over and over again and expecting the same result'

It is a personal choice and the fact is no-one really knows what the right way will be, if any way is the right way.
Only time will tell.

Einstein's quote does say a lot in MY opinion and that's why i'm changing my view in the situation.

I have nothing but respect for people that want to renew, we are all Cardiff Fans and I hope we can reunite to be the Club we once was :bluescarf:

Re: What's right !!

Fri Jan 02, 2015 4:54 pm

By not renewing we are hitting the club in one go, if you renew a few thousand will protest, by the end of the season it will be down to hundreds, personaly im not renewing because im not going there to watch the football anymore just to protest and im not paying hundreds of pounds to do that

That's just a cop out really, if you took that attitude to everything, then it's pointless trying to influence people to wear scarves and protest or march. It's all about making a stance to try to change things, which will only gave an effect if done on masse or as a collective :thumbup:

As I said Carlos I believed in the way we was doing it protesting from within, but now I have changed my thinking that protesting from within is not going to work. As you know the fans are beaten on that score the stadium is dead. The only reason I went in the prem was to protest, as for the results I don't care to be fair. But this is where we all can't agree Chief on how to hit Tan where it hurts.

Being a supporter means you support the club by any way you choose to.
If that means by boycotting for your beliefs, or going despite your disproval of the regime, your still a supporter.

Exactly!! the crowd yesterday has made more headlines than all the protests so far. Now if it was like that week in week out next year Tan would HAVE to start thinking about either getting out or reversing the rebrand.

Re: What's right !!

Sun Jan 04, 2015 12:26 am

I believe Mr Tan will do what he wants, when he wants to do it, and nothing the fans do from now on will influence him. My belief is that he is probably preparing the club for a sale. Whether someone (or a consortium) comes up with the goodies remains to be seen. Some of the figures bandied about regarding a possible sale price are I believe exaggerated as I am sure the net figure Tan has expended is less than the £120m. to £140m. sometimes quoted.
