A forum for all things Cardiff City

I've been looking at this guy's goal scoring record, and even though the shedload of goals he scored last season were in the Northern Premier League, he's taken a step up to be with us and has continued to hit the net on a regular basis with our reserves. I believe he has a goal ratio of just over 1 per game from his last 63 games, as he's scored something like 70 goals from those games. Now this tells me the guy is a natural goal scorer. I haven't seen him play yet, but I have seen his goals on the Cardiff City website and was very impressed.
I decided to look up Charlie Austin's record at the same stage of his career as I knew he was banging them in for Poole Town as a 21yr.old. Poole Town were playing in the Wessex Premier League - 2 levels lower than the Northern Premier League where Danny Johnson was banging them in last year. There were a number of League managers who wrote off Charlie Austin as a lower league flash in the pan despite scoring 48 times in 41 appearances for Poole.
How wrong they were.
Now without wanting to put any pressure on the guy, surely Danny Johnson is worth a punt up front against Colchester ?

Give him a go in the league, can't be any worse than Macheda

I havent seen him play but he must be worth a try. When you look at KJ AlF and Macheda and our recent scoring efforts - whats to lose?

The goal is the same size whatever league you play in but better players give you more chances. Maybe that doesn't apply to our first team.

Interesting post thanks for that.
Colchester would be the perfect game to give him some game time you would think. Although it's a huge step up for the kid, throw in in or get him on from the bench. Give him a chance!

Didn't do much on loan at Tranmere earlier this season. I definitely think he's worth watching for the future though.

He is too good for Slade and his coaching staff to even consider. He will be on the transfer list very shortly!!!
