What distance are you trying to cover and what is the lighting like in those areas ? It will make a big difference as to what specification of camera to use .
ip cameras have a much better picture quality , more expensive than analogue but worth it if you need crisp pictures for identification purposes .
Hd-sdi are really just higher quality versions of analogue .

Are you saying its just the quality is different ? Are all the connections the same ? We have a system in one of our businesses but could do with an upgrade, some of the dome covers are missing and I was going to buy new to replace. Ideally I would like night vision on the system however the lighting is good normally. All indoors btw!

Between analogue and HD yes . On Ip cameras the quality is better again .
You will not be able to put an ip camera onto an analogue system . But you can put certain analogue cameras onto ip systems.
The connections will depend on the wiring , if it's in cat5 they will normally have used balluns for the termination point . If they are wired in shotgun/coax they will be BNC connections .
You will also need to keep in mind how the cameras are powered , weather locally or from a PSU and what power they require or you could end up blowing the replacement cameras and costing yourself a lot of money .
Most cameras come with IR which unless it's a large warehouse will be sufficient to light most rooms at night .
