Hudson. A big mistake

Mon Dec 29, 2014 1:22 am

When he was sold there was a lot of disappointment on this board but I bet even the more sceptical of his time here would be glad to see him back in our team.We are leaking goals and there is a massive lack of organisation and most importantly leadership in our beleaguered team. This could be the worst decision out of many in Ole's 2 transfer windows in his disastrous spell as our manager

Totally agree with this. Massive mistake, was knocked down quite a lot, but was the organiser in the back 4.

I agree too.

People criticise Slade, which is fair enough, but OGS left him a real mess. Selling Hudson was his biggest mistake. Hudson loved it at CCFC, and was a great captain. Conducted himself well at all times, even when Malky made Bellamy captain on the pitch. No tantrums, just got on with it. Mark Hudson is a top bloke, and a top pro. A huge loss to us.

He is a city legend, always have 110% percent and gave everything for the cause, did a lot behind the scenes charity wise, true family man, top pro and even better fella.

Treated like utter shit by the club !!!

Loved Hudson but I don't see a place for him in the team. We need a manager to set the team up properly not more defenders.

He might have struggled to get in the team if the players and combinations had worked as intended but they clearly haven't . What he would have brought was is leadership and calmness and a bit of stability. At present the shoulders of the players are dropping more than the tail end of last season and there is no one encouraging or if needed bollocking the players.
We're lacking a leader and other than pshyco in recent memory he is our stand out captain. :bluescarf:

Totally agree! I said this as soon as he left! But can you blame him for agreeing to leave? He was never in contention for a first team start. But now, we just need to go forward hoping that Slade can pull a miracle from January onwards

I think people are just clinging to the fact we need a leader as some kind of hope. Wasn't Hudson relegated just before we bought him? Didn't help them.

Settling the team up correctly, with a settled back four, playing our best back four and proper midfield cover would help a lot more than Hudson.

But were those orders "you can buy Manga if you sell one of the other centre backs you have" :?: In which case that is OGS's decision to sell Hudson over Cala, Turner and Connolly.

Hudson was a big earner and Manga probably wanted (and merited) even more so another big earner had to go if we are committed to balancing the books and making us self sustainable.

I don't want to defend Tan but I do think that in 2 transfer windows OGS has decimated the quality, balance and leadership of the playing squad. Slade doesn't command enough respect to turn that around in my opinion

It's easy to blame Tan for every poor decision, he has made some pretty obvious ones himself  but there is no way I am letting OGS, in particular, or Malky (too many cheap relegation clauses in contracts to allow our squad to build) off the hook

i was one of very few on this board who wanted him to stay. most said he was crap and past it so cannot complain.

when the team is in the doldrums you need characters to come to the fore and we don't have any. perhaps if we were in the top 6 and going well, we could get by without senior players like hudson, but i'd certainly have kept him over someone like juan cala.
