" Imagine this and it could happen "

We are currently on an awful run and if it continues we could end up in a relegation battle, then who knows what the out come would be?

Newport County are currently 5th in the 4th Division on a terrific run(3 go up automatically),a club owned by fans and our little neighbours who detest us,but to be fair to them, loyal to their club and not sold their souls.
If they were promoted?
We could end up in the same division odds at the moment 100/1 but would u bet your house against it happening?

Most Red Glory hunters have already left our club, but sadly also a lot of loyal fans have and I dont blame them, we could end up on par with little Newport County once again.

So was it really worth it, the stripping of our identity, many fans told me to move on when I spoke out,now they dont go themselves Hmmmmmmmmm :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Its unbelievable that this could even happen, but thats how bad we have become.

Still a long shot this will happen for next season though.

However was it worth it you ask......you know my answer.

An interesting scenario but they're not really owned by the fans. They have a Euro Lottery winners called Les Scadding as Chairman, propping them up financially.

They do,but he has not invested that much, the Supporters have kept the club going and are major shareholders in the club.

Yes - it was all worth it. Never been so proud of my team and the city of my birth as when they beat Man City. The FA Cup Final and Carling Cup Final close in second and third.

If we end up in League 1, so what? It didn't do Southampton, Norwich and Leicester any harm, as they subsequently made it to the Premier League. The Premier League is everything in modern football - if you don't want to have a go in the best club competition in World football then you might as well give up. :ayatollah:

Would it be the worst thing in the world?

Would it give Tan all the more reason to sell us?

Or would it put us in financial crisis?

Fair point but without him they'd be fooked. My understanding is that whilst he's never invested a huge lump sum he's made things very comfortable through the interest his fortune earns and basically that means financing buying players etc.

They have achieved 99% of their success through the divisions, thanks to their fans running the club and thats very true as I have followed every bit of their rise and know the fans who have run things personally.

Been in financial crisis for years Ned.

Going down will make it harder to get rid of Tan as he'll want his money back and the lower we go the less value there is on his sale.

If it happens, it happens. Things like that make football interesting. Remember going to Somerton Park in the 80s.

Incredible really Annis, only a few years ago I couldn't even tell you what league they were in, we were in cup finals taking 40,000 to Wembley and they were getting 1500. Amazing how things can change quickly in football. They could easily get promoted and we could easily go down. Funny thing is, lots of their fans would come out of the woodwork yet all our older or passionate fans wouldn't be there as they don't go anymore.really makes you wonder where it all went wrong? After Blackpool play off should we have just gone into admin? Sacking malky? Hiring ole? Tan lying about debt to equity? Obviously the rebrand has killed us off slowly but certain high profile fans have a lot of blood on their hands I'd say for giving Tan the ok.....

If Slade stays in charge, then we're going down, no question about that in my mind. As for County, they got a great chance of going up, so we could well play them next season. I work with a number of County fans and most hate us with a passion. Just a shame that if we do play next season I won't be there, unless the rebrand is reversed, but it got to be done.

Re: " Imagine this and it could happen "

It could happen and it's karma.

Our club is so screwed it may take a decade or more to get the club back to where it was a few years ago.

This era will go down in history as 'how not to run a football club'.. PHds in football club management may be developed around it!

We need new owners who will return our identity and start to rebuild faith between club and fans. Fans likewise need to accept that we will spend the foreseeable future in the championship or league one as the rebuilding goes ahead.

All of this of course is dependent on Tan leaving the club and the new owners having the heart for the club and fans and not just the ambition for success.... Tan has proved you can't have the latter without the former.

RIP CCFC, I hope you are resurrected one day.

Resurrected one day maybe but how many fans will return? I doubt that many....fair play to Tan he has done something quite unique in actually killing off a club. Divide and conquer. Shocking

Goats, sadly totally true.

When I return to Cardiff I will of course be there if there is even a club left, regardless of what division we are in. But so much damage has been done I think it will take a decade or so to rebuild trust between fans and the club... that is of course assuming Tan sells soon to someone who can start to reverse the appalling decisions that Tan made.... and I am not just talking about the rebrand but the way the club is run and goes about it's business.

That Blackpool playoff loss was even bigger than we thought, if we had won that and been promoted, then arguably Tan would never have become involved and if he had, the rebrand most certainly wouldn't have seen the light of day. Yes, blowing promotion then, set in place a devastating set of events

Goats, they say football is a funny old game and unpredictable, but I honestly believe under Tan,there is only one way our club will go and thats down and broken.

I'm not so sure. Tan was a "guest" of Peter Ridsdale, at the Blackpool game, with a view to investing in us then.

The rebrand could have happened a year earlier??

Re: " Imagine this and it could happen "

i'm from Cwmbran and I can definitely see a demographic shift towards supporting County that simply was not there when I was growing up. It was the midday train to Cardiff for us.

Unless the club drastically sorts itself out, it is at risk of losing support to Newport around the Gwent/Torfaen areas

There academy is not far away from ours at the moment loads of Cardiff kids at there academy and well looked after.

I believe you to be correct on that one, Rick

Tan was pretty much committed to investing at that stage and I seem to remember that he was hoping to make a dream start with immediate promotion under Dave Jones

That it didn't was disappointing for all of us at the time. I remember trudging home form Wembley with my arse in my hands and I defy any Cardiff City fan who was there to say otherwise

Just think we could play Newport in a few years where they have a squad of Cardiff born players because of the people running are club.

They have at least 30 boys from Cardiff and one has just made the first team keeping two clean sheets playing centre back at 16

Regan Poole. I think he was at your academy but was released. He's been on trial at Man Utd and Fulham apparently, and played in both Christmas games so far in which we conceded 0 goals. Only just turned 16.

I can't see that Cardiff will get relegated looking in from the outside but I can see that we might get promoted. The 'bigger' clubs in our division all seem to be struggling to get their shit together for some reason and for so long as Justin Edinburgh remains in charge we will always be getting an extra 20% out of players.

Darcy Blake apparently is training with us again too.
