Upping the Ante - Targeting the Sponsors.

Sun Dec 28, 2014 9:06 pm

Hello all,

No comment on the football tonight, I'm too angry. However, in a move to mirror James Wales sentiments I've had an idea to put further pressure on Tan and the Club. Our team are sponsored by a group of companies, they have paid their money to advertise to us and as such are open to influence from their customers (i.e. us) . I've compiled a list of advertisers and split them into groups where I believe individuals can influence sponsors relationship and spend at the Club, even raising the re-brand as a negative commercial consideration not an emotional one.

The groups are ones where I think fans could influence to varying degrees, companies I think an effort could make a difference, ones that might and ones that might probably not. I've listed Company names, their primary address, social media (Face book, Twitter etc).

Now it's down to you to contact each one in turn. Ask them to consider what their spend means to our club and whether they wish to associated with such a toxic brand.

Most important of all, it is your chance to explain to them that as they sponsor this debacle that you will have to consider using their services ever again. Telling who ever will listen not to use people that advertise with the club and that the association has a negative effect on their company.

If people tell the owners/marketing teams of companies that advertise at CCFC that by just having their billboard there customers will stop using their products and services it will raise questions between them, at a commercial level the Club HAS to listen to them.

For example, Tweets to companies such as “Why do you sponsor the Cardiff City Rebrand? No longer using your service because of this #NoBlueNoRenew” Emails explaining that due to the sponsorship you will be eating/drinking/buying a car elsewhere. That they are associated with the toxic brand and their brand is suffering as a consequence. Please be polite, but be direct. Use social media for what it's worth, single voices DO make a difference.

Please feel free to cut and paste this to wherever you would like to see it, i.e. the CCST, the other board, CCSC, Facebook, I honestly don't mind as long as people start using the info below.

LETS DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS EFFIN MESS!!!

Best regards

Geeze

Apart from me maybe agreeing to try and drink Brains out of business I think you're off your trolley.

We're already a laughing stock, fans who boo their own team and now we want to get ask our sponsors to remove their support?

I think the OP is trying to get the sponsors to put pressure on the club to do a U-turn on the re-band not remove their support

For God's sake man, seek medical help now.

Hello Chaps,

As previously mentioned I'm just trying to ask companies to reconsider their support for the Club. I don't expect to put any of them out of business.

Just an idea.

If it's not welcomed then fair enough. I was just trying to do something other than bitch on a message board.

I've been saying for a while now that sponsors won't be prepared to advertise in an empty stadium. If supporters decided against attending matches, it wouldn't just be gate revenue, programme sales, catering etc.that Tan would have to think about. A lot of additional revenue would be lost as well.

Maybe worth posting up a template letter /tweet for people.
