Russell Slade "There is a lot of work that now needs to be done."

The Bluebirds boss remains defiant after a torrid afternoon during which he endured cat-calls from angry and disenchanted Bluebirds supporters
Russell Slade has overseen another miserable day at Cardiff City.
Cardiff City boss Russell Slade said Bluebirds fans who barracked him during and after the 4-2 defeat to Watford are entitled to their opinion, but insisted he will remain fully focused on the job.
The Bluebirds made it five Championship games without a win, with hopes of a play-off place slipping through their fingers following an abject capitulation against the Hornets after they had taken a 1-0 lead through a rare Adam Le Fondre strike.
Supporters at the Cardiff City Stadium chanted “You don’t know what you’re doing” at the manager and even “You’re getting sacked in the morning”.
Slade said he expects such taunts while his Cardiff team are performing so poorly, but he insisted he has had no contact with owner Vincent Tan about the recent run of poor results.
“I am sure, like me, the owner is not overly enthralled with the results, but that’s not a conversation we’ve had,” said Slade.
“When you don’t win football matches you will come under pressure.
“I’m focusing on the football and the fans are entitled to their opinion, which I accept.
“When the team is not playing well, as we weren’t in the second period, then you are going to expect that sort of situation to arise.
“We are under no illusions that’s it a big job at this football club and there is a lot of work that now needs to be done.”
Cardiff slipped to 12th in the Championship table following this defeat and are now nine points off the play-off places with more than half the season gone.
Slade admitted it was a troubling time at the club with his side’s inconsistency the most immediate problem.
“It is a frustrating time and we are not in a good place at the minute,” added the Cardiff manager.
“We are not showing any consistency.
“We stuck to the game plan really well early on against Watford. We were pleased at 1-0. If anybody saw the 4-1 coming at 1-0 you would shock me.
“We were looking good, but four minutes of madness just before half-time have cost us.
“It looks like we are on the right path and then for some reason things go wrong. You have got to do the basics well, you have got to close down, track runners, stay with people and win the 50-50s and at times we were well short of that.”

I can't agree with some of that statement. I could see 4-1 coming.
Even in the first half they were FAR better than we were. Slicker in the passing, supporting each other, even taking the piss with their possession and lack of opposition down our left hand side.
I'm well worried if Slade and his staff didn't see what I could see, even in the first half.

Agree mate, as always we gave the ball away from the kick off and were on the back foot immediately, it happens every single game and we never get any momentum going.

I agree. We were looking vulnerable from the start, not good. They were creating with pace and skill while we only had a couple of set pieces. What is Slade talking about ?

There was a point towards the end of the first half where we only had 28% possession, now for an ex teacher I would hope that Slade could work out the probability of what was likely to happen next

There is a massive job to done at our club I think everyone would agree with that but I could see a defeat coming, even when we were 1-0 up, because we were so narrow and with Watford using the full width of the CCS pitch they were finding it easy to play in front of us, around us or straight through us.
The problems with the squad are clearly not down to RS, look no further than OGS for that, but RS has decided to use basically 20 players of the 31 that were available to him when he was appointed manager. At this moment we are no better than when OGS was manager and RS must take responsibility for that.
As a club we are imploding and are lacking any leadership at any level of the business and are at real risk of being dragged into a relegation battle.
Is RS the right man for the job given where we are as a club.

Well we are going to find out after Jan window! At moment he just doesn't have players to Play his way, there is not midfield full stop!! I sit on halfway line level 4 perfect view of what's happening, basically we have 2 up front on their pen area, then 9 players inside our half that happened so many times today! We need a box to box midfielder to bridge the gap left there! Most teams pass as they like until get to our pen area causing problems as always got spare men and room!! Slade needs his own men in players and backroom staff as young/gabbidon ect are blatently out of their depth.

PS and we are slower than a snail going forward we are always looking to pass back instead of going forward!

After the chants he got from the fans today and rightly so he should resign and save the amount of dignity he has got left.

I cannot understand this continuing reference to consistency.
We must be one of the most consistent teams around at the moment:-
Consistently out fought
Consistently out passed
Consistently out thought
Consistently unable to string three passes together
Consistently have way less possession of the football
Consistently shit.
Russell, at the moment we are very consistent.

Wrong manager.
End of .

"You have got to do the basics well
Close down....Track runners ....Stay with people"
Hence he plays Whittingham and Kenwynne Jones irrespective of how they play When they are the 2 lazy players and least likely to do the above. You could not make it up.
As I said a couple of weeks ago Chant

To the tune of santa claus is coming to down).....russel Slade is taking us down. Bearing in mind our January fixtures, I'm getting worried.

When?? At 1-0 we were in control of the game and Watford had offered very little. There is no way that anyone could see 4-1 coming at that point. Yes, in the second half they took complete control and pissed all over us but not at 1-0 to us.
Sun Dec 28, 2014 11:54 pm
Watford played some very good football, passing to feet and making themselves available for passes. Cardiff more than often just hoofed the ball upfield directly from back to front. Slade needs to change his tactics and team formation.

At 1 0 He did not see that coming he needs to look at the possession stats throughout the game......

My answer to your latter question is NO, Russell Slade is not the right man for the job, & he never was,,,ever.
I agree that a total rebuilding of the squad is required, but would you trust that task to RS, starting this January? I would not, because come February/March we could easily be struggling in the bottom six,,,,unless of course VT & co want that scenario???
