In Vincent Tan I Trust.......??

Sun Dec 28, 2014 1:59 pm

A hell of a lot of us on here are Angry and Disgusted at the situation OUR club is in!!!!

Vincent Tan was sold the idea a few years ago about a sport that he knew nothing at all about
and decided to take a punt. He is the Second owner in my lifetime that has put HIS money
where his mouth is, (shame Rick Wright never had Vincent Tan's billions eh!!!!)
His biggest problem from day one has and always will be the people who have been ADVISING him.

I am not saying he has not made mistakes but it is a learning curve ON BOTH SIDES.

On the managerial side we had Jones who was very successfull but did not engage
with us fans and was arrogant and WE ALL wanted him out ( So Vincent Tan obliged).
Then our best manager in the last 40 years Mackay took us to Wembley and the Premiership
but wasted tens of millions in poor players and wages etc pushing our Debt even higher.
Dalman brought in Ole, yet more poor signings and wasted millions who dropped us into the
Championship and stripped us of the players we needed and left us with Macheda (Vincent Tan
duly and rightly sacked/got rid of him). Then we find Glen Roeder (??? Crap manager in his
own right) is the man ADVISING Vincent Tan to Hire Slade, a man totally out of his depth with a
dated 1980's style of football that WILL see us relegated.( His advisers must be telling him
Slade is the Messiah!!!!!!!!).

Slade inherited a very good Squad of players, it is not their fault there are too many of them that
don't fit his antiquated formation and tactics. For example...Matts though very talented never
really showed why Ole bought him and he may in future be a star but he came he at the wrong time!!

On the positive side we have a Superb Stadium, training complex and Academy (thought these
young players will never get a chance under Slade, but can you blame Tan for that).

We will probably fall foul of the FFP in the near future so Vincent Tan is doing the right thing
by cutting costs now before it gets even worse.

Our running costs must be well over a million pounds per month and income probably less than
£100,000 with very little income from food or beer sale (franchised out still??) merchandise sales (Yes
mostly Tans fault) or pay-on-the-day per month so Vincent Tan has been keeping us afloat for a while.

Debt to Equity, a lot of people keep bringing this up and as long as at some time in the FUTURE Vincent Tan
keeps his promise we WILL be debt free. IF he converted it today then the million or so we lose per month WILL
be a future problem. Or am I wrong??

The Rebrand. From Vincent Tans viewpoint.... He asked the CLUB!!!! in return for a £100 million investment (and the
extra since) he wanted the rebrand, THE CLUB AGREED, were fans consulted NO!!!!!!!!!. So from his point all
he has done upheld his side. WE SHOULD BE ASKING THOSE RUNNING THE CLUB AT THE TIME WHY THEY
AGREED TO SOMETHING THEY KNEW US FANS WOULD NOT SELL OUR SOUL FOR!!! But I suspect they made millions
themselves and let Vincent Tan take ALL the blame whilst they count their filthy lucre scot free!!!!
As Forever Blue stated of the 'straw poll' "I believe Tan was not told the full story"

Drop the Rebrand/Red Visor for a few minutes and re-read this from his point of view.
He has done/intends to do everything he has said and comes across as an honourable businessman
We all hated him for sacking Milky, but he was right!! Maybe, Just maybe BOTH sides need to step
back and look at the mess we are in and to re-engage for the future good of our club.

I believe Vincent Tan wants the best for our club, in fact he needs us to be successful to recoup the money he has
invested. He has been wrongly advised due to his naivety and the greed and lies from the board. His CEO'S are
'yes' men. He needs to engage with the FANS and to talk to US, not advisors THAT IS HIS BIGGEST MISTAKE!!!

WE NEED TO GET RID OF THE PEOPLE AT THE CLUB THAT HAVE BEEN PERPETUATING THEIR OWN AGENDAS!!!

Very good post , but , ultimately the buck stops with him and it is blatantly only his pride and stubbornness that has escalated the situation at our club , if only he would be an honourable man and stop disrespecting and poking fun at us fans then we might be able to move forward . this man is a hypocrite coming from a culture where respect , culture and honour are of paramount importance . :old:

Then why does Tan keep saying the fans should honour or keep our side of the bargain if we weren't even consulted or polled? Smacks of total incompetence of a man who has no idea on how to run a football club.

That is the point, he has never known how to run a football club but he has his advisers at the club who it seems have been filling him with disinformation!!!!!!! To him WE DID AGREE, because that was he was told. We need the truth from those at the club who are hiding the truth from him to serve their own agendas.
And to that end we need THEM ALSO to be accountable for the mess we are in instead of letting them off with EVERY anti Tan thread.

For what it's worth I agree with your sentiments, Tan was ill advised but took the advice as he believed what he was being told that the fans as a whole will go along with it as long as he kept his side of the bargain, which by and large he has.
For me the biggest problem now is stopping the rot on the pitch, our decent into oblivion is gaining momentum by the week.
