Dean Cox - Orient midfielder

Sat Dec 27, 2014 8:53 am

Rumour is hes signing so I will welcome this signing if it goes through, a 30 yr old battler in midfield is what we need its about time we got rid of most the high earners who are clearly not putting shifts in weekly. Many will say hes played lower league football for leyton orient but to me as long as he puts a shift in its better than watching most of our current fannys out there prance around the pitch trying to get a 9.5 on the trotting score cards as if there at some kind of horse showing contest.
Things are about to change and we are going for " the cheaper option" with lots leaving in my opinion thats whats going on although im happy about it as we might get some fight back in the team then

I'm willing to give any new signings a chance regardless of cost or where they have played before. If he comes in then good luck to him

I don't think just putting in a shift is enough. No problem with lower league players but someone younger to develop would be better. I expect all our signings to be like this under slade and we will struggle.

Yep i feel there will be a few so called dean cox signings due with some of the over paid flops heading out like the 4-5 already gone. Tan going for the cheap option run the club on a level surface, take the parchute payments and admin us in a few years. hmm who knows

Luke but he will only be given whatever hes given to work with money wise, slade comming in tells me we are going for the cheaper option in players let alone manager so somethings changing down the city imo :bluescarf:

I think it's a smart move to get players in with a desire to better themselves. All the recent signings think they are superstars

I thought there was a rule where the owner can't take the parachute payments? May be wrong. Think Tan is in too deep to put us in admin but is trying to balance the books to make us more sellable

Maybe there is a reason that we 30 he is still at a struggling league one club facing league two though.

IF the club runs at a profit (big if) and generates cash then there is nothing stopping him using it to pay some of the loans off. Doesn't matter if the parachute payments have been part of the reason for the profit

So tan could go down the cheap option route sell whatever he can in players at the club now or ship them out, take whatever profit is there after parachute payments for a few seasons then admin us if he wanted to. that way he will atleast get some money back. Unless he sells up to another then its a different ball game.

He can use whatever money comes into the club to pay his loans. Hence why I believe he will be around for the next 2 seasons to pay some of his loans off with the parachute payments.

His first target though is to balance the books hence why all the quality layers are going. This season is covered by the ST payments but next campaign it will be interesting to see what he does to balance the risk of none renewal of STs. It would not surprise me if he wants us to drop into league one as then his average wage earners on the pitch will want to leave.

we've tried the big signings with Malky & didn't work
We've tried the unknown foreign signings with OGS - didn't work
May as well have a bash finding some gems in the lower leagues

Sounds like a poor mans Don Cowie

Re: Dean Cox - Orient midfielder

I think in reality Slade is aiming to snatch the Division 1 title

There is no doubt that quality players are being offloaded for a cheaper version. I just hope that Slade does not bring in a bus full of lower league players because that will be our standard. The addition of a couple of lower league players to our current squad then fair enough but anything more and it really shows that the club has no ambition.

He will be a hit if he can show this vision and quality for us! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4oJ_MTmy8g

Re: Dean Cox - Orient midfielder

Slade shouldn't be given a penny to spend on anyone. Tan needs to keep selling and pocket what he can before effing off. Also I'd rather see the younger lads playing than some 30 year old lower league players on 3 or 4 year contracts. All this madness because of a narcissistic owner who worries more about saving his face than respecting the wishes of his customers.

Never heard of him so I just Wiki'd him- a 27 year old 5'4" winger- That should balance us out with our other pygmy winger and remember Daehli was a lightweight !!!!!

I suppose Slade just wants one of the first team to refer to him as "boss" and be sincere about it......

People rubbishing him already on this thread ,ffs were not Chelsea ,some players can make the step up if given a chance !

Soccer base has him at 5 ft 10.

17 goals and 15 assists last season. Scored 1 and set up the 2nd yesterday. He's no mug. Lots of interest in him in the summer, but he's under contract until 2017 so won't be cheap.

Slade needs to bring in a centre forward who is physical, can score and will work for the 90. The strikers we've got are all bench material.

Re: Dean Cox - Orient midfielder

Sat Dec 27, 2014 2:51 pm

So we sold a highly rated " lightweight" 19 year old acm to the bundesliga, to replace him with a 27 year old "lightweight" acm from the lower leagues? Doesn't make sense at all for a club thats aims for promotion.
More and more it looks like tan is stripping assets.

Luke, you are correct...cheap options, but maybe we are starting to reap what some (rather vocal) fans have sown? :(

I note with some mirth that the instigator of this 'thread' is a non-attendee at the CCS, yet states (quote): "im happy about it as we might get some fight back in the team" (unquote)

You just couldn't make it up sometimes!
