' Last Time they met '
By Terry Phillips
November 6, 2012 – Charlton Athletic 5-4 Cardiff City
It’s 30 years since the Bluebirds last won at the Valley when Graham Withey (2), Phil Dwyer and Jimmy Mullen scored in a 4-1 victory.
That was only the fourth time Cardiff City have won at Charlton – the other occasions were in 1956-57 (2-0), 1962-63 (4-2) and 1976-77 (2-0).
On their last visit two years ago Malky Mackay’s men were on their way to the Championship title, but they slipped up in south London after Charlton staged a remarkable comeback.
Heidar Helguson and Joe Mason put City 2-0 ahead, but the game turned on its head when Johnnie Jackson (2), Dale Stephens, Danny Haynes and Rob Hulse made it 5-2.
Craig Noone and Aron Gunnarsson then hit back for City, but Charlton held on for a 5-4 win.
