Screw the re-brand - What exactly is the Cardiff City Brand

Sorry but I don't get what Vinnie's rebrand is really about.

Yes, he's changed the club colours and allowed the children's art class winner to design our badge.
Is that it? Seriously, is that it?
Is that the sum total of thought that a billionaire businessman has put into this project.

A brand is a style, a certain way of doing things. It's about what you represent.

So far what have we had?

We've had 3 managers. All playing differing styles. In the last transfer window we have bought 'supposed' flair players and yet he employs a manager a few months later who wants a more workmanlike grafting team. So now there is a big squad of mis-matched, over paid players that don't fit this months style.

It simply doesn't add up. It's madness. It doesn't work on the pitch and it's a financial disaster off it. This club needs a plan & direction - and it needs to stick with it!

So my question to Mr tan is what is Cardiff City Football club to be known for? What's our 'Brand'?

If it's to be 'a basket case of a Club', 'the template on how not to do it', the team to "kick the ball aimlessly and jog after it,' then I can see we're over achieving. Even to Phd level.

Is the 'brand' you want for us to be known for - attractive, free flowing, one touch football?

Whatever style it is, then employ managers of that ilk. If it doesn't work out for the first guy then get somebody else in but stick with the same style of football. Buy players that fit that style.

Everybody, from the top to the bottom of the club needs to know what our style is and how it is going to be achieved. Doing it the Cardiff City way. The Cardiff City brand.

I think its simply the colour Red, & its importance in the Far Eastern, Chinese culture.

That's basically it, custom & superstition,,,,,although that superstition doesn't extend to our Western customs & superstitions, especially when it comes to dealing with a football club!

You are right, and I do understand the cultural side.

But a business needs direction on it's end product. We don't have one, or if we do it certainly isn't clear what it is

it's a great question - no real Welsh identity as no local lads get to play for us that often.

The only brand VT inadvertently created was turning us into the archetypical 'what can go wrong' if you accept money over heritage
