" Russell Slade has asked Vincent Tan if he can? "

Sun Dec 21, 2014 10:14 am

I was told Russell Slade has asked Vincent Tan last week if Kevin Nugent can still join them and as soon as possible.

I just don't see the point in it Tbh. It's a manager we need not a number 2.

If nugent is that important/influential he may as well be manager.

This tells me Slade is not at all comfortable with the set up.

Only one man to blame and that is Tan himself.

If this has happened, Young should do the honourable thing and accept he is not wanted and leave. I never understood his desire to become an assistant manager. Why is it only the British who have this desire to climb the ladder so quickly.

Learn your craft Young ffs if you are serious about your ambitions. Bergkamp is still a youth coach at Ajax, an intelligent man learning how to become the best coach he can be

I agree but i bet the contract is too go to walk away from without being pushed.

He shouldn't have took the job in the first place if he couldn't get his own men in. Oh hang on, I forgot he was about to be sacked by Leyton Orient wasn't he

Doesn't matter what manager we have, its Tans interference thats is the problem. Tan out.

It was obvious from the start that RS wanted his own back room staff in from the beginning, & this latest info only goes to suggest that there is distrust in the management camp. Messages & action plans are simply not getting through from the training ground to the first eleven on a match day. Total lack of communication? Or a total lack of a clear understanding of how the basic game should be played??

Bergkamp is assistant manager at Ajax not a youth coach

I can only go on reading a few managers biogs but, redknapp, houlier, Warnock all say it's a massive difference having your own coaching staff esp number 2. They are a sounding board you can trust, they know how you work, what you look for in a player, how you like training ran, dos and donts around th club, and normally are in with the players so the players can trust him and the manager knows what he needs to know in the. Changing room.
Obviously Scott young isn't his choice, slade needs his own staff so he can be judged properly. Tan shouldn't mess around with slades staff if he's asked slade to do a job that he was judged on a the Os.
I don't blame young in not stepping down, he has a contract and bills need paying like the rest of us, same as the rest of th coaches, tans guys gave thm the contracts so tan should pay them until they find alternative employment or find a settlement

Thats a bit of an admission that he cant cope .... it doesn't give any confidence in him and clearly hes not happy with the staff he has got ... :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Wow! I bloody hope not, mallo! :o

If Tan is to persist with Slade (and I think he has to, seeing as he stated he was HIS appointment) then he must also give him the tools with which to do the job

If Slade really wants Nugent, there will be a reason for it (maybe simply trust) and he should bring him in

Then, as big a hero he was on the pitch, Scott Young and certain other coaches should go

Slade will then live or die by his own actions or those of the team HE assembled

Personally, I am with Forever Blue in my thoughts that I will always give him (Slade) every chance to 'do the job' for Cardiff City FC, but after recent performances where we cannot be truly motivated to try until we are miles behind, I personally believe he is NOT the manager to get us back into the Premier League (too one-dimensional) and we will need to get a more able and motivational manager in sooner rather than later

Pulis?? I think I'd give him a go (and that would please most paying supporters) but my choice would be to go get Hoddle and say "Here's your blank paper, fella, now go build me a team o get back to the Premier League NEXT season!"

Merry Christmas, mallo  :santa:

That's OK as long as Slade tells tan why he needs his old no2 all managers Need a trusty no2, slade needs to tell him its not working with young and if he doesnt change things it wont work! But of course tan needs to listen?

Not being funny but Slade was on the verge of the sack with Nugent as his no.2 at orient. Hardly inspires to employ him here.

I reckon Nugent will come eventually.

Every Manager should be allowed to bring his own back room staff, they work as a team and are an important factor, Slade is at a massive disadvantage if he can't bring his own staff in......

I salute Russell Slade made his name in free transfers, now he is frontman for getting people off the payroll since he took charge. He deserves Nugget his previous partner in slime ;) Zero budget I give Slade a chance with what is a former striker of our club and a window for incoming signings with a point to prove. We must face our squad is being downsized rightly so with highest on the wage bill sensibly being helped through the door. In Slade I don't really trust but good luck steady the ship with your own crew and hopefully Nugent. Bluebirds flying high whatever the weather. merry Xmas

I have to admit Slade had done well with no money else where and from day one he should of had Nugent.

But I dont rate them Slade in the Championship.
