Am a fabio fan and wanted him in, I have this on going debate with my nephew who says he simply can't defend and a defender should be able to defend anything else a bonus. Backed him to the hilt but today he was awful, out of position, poor passing just terrible. I never judge off one game but he needs to turn in better performances than that.

Couldn't disagree more, thought he started very well. Only problems came from Brentford having more men in midfield than us, so any time Noone was high up the pitch, Fabio was bloody screwed no matter where he was

Maybe some of his bad passes and the fact whenever we were exposed was on his side made it seem worse than he was, appreciate your opinion.

To get the best from fabio and brayford for that matter they need to be in a back 5
3 central defenders would allow them to be wing backs giving us width and pace going foreward which they do best and knowing there is three centre backs behind them. for me they would be manga morrison and connelly
I think gunnerson and adeymi as 2 central midfielders would also give the wing backs licence to attack
this system would allow whitts to sit further up the pitch where he could do more damage without having too much defencive responcability , i would like to complete the team with jones up front and try young kadeem harris with the freedom to roam just behind jones.
imo this selection compliments each other and looks more balanced
also with the likes of noone le fondre a new striker ralls a new midfielder turner and a new defender I think our bench could be set up to change system shape etc if needed

3-5-2 very en vogue

Why shouldn't Fabio be dire today? He hardly kicked a ball since Bolton and is way of match fit. Take a closer look at those consistent performers as Slade calls them.

He just cant do the basics well at all, brayfords not much better

To be honest, I really don't think that Fabio is as good as Andrew Taylor.

He's not been injuired, just didn't think he had a good game.

Andrew Taylor in the championship was a solid 7 out of ten sometimes 8 every week. Lacked pace but was a decent left back.

Taylor was useless. Passed sideways or backwards every time, was always quick to blame other people for his mistakes, etc. Served us well, but Fabio is the better player in my opinion

Too many get carried away with fabio as at times he steams in with a last ditch tackle or has a rare productive run going forward. The truth is he is constantly out of position defensively and offers little to the team.

How you can't see he can't defend is amazing. Massively overrated by many who think a last ditched tackle makes him a good defender when more often than not it's his lack of positional play created the issue in the first place.

I don't like Fabio as a defender and yesterday proved it shocking display, no positional sense ,
Sun Dec 21, 2014 3:38 pm
Maybe thats why Utd got shot of him , inconsistancy.

Id honestly take taylor and kev McNaughton over brayford and Fabio, easily

Spot on

and when he did get back and mark he was still done easily by the left midfielder ........

Fabio always gives 100% maybe some other players need to look at him
Sun Dec 21, 2014 6:52 pm
Why did he go off yesterday? Was he injured? Perhaps a way back for Declan John. Did OK when he came on.

Perhaps his 100% isn't good enough ?

If Freddie starts then Fabio's 100% is more than good enough

As someone said earlier Fabios best as a wingback in a 352
If we're gonna continue with442 then the other defenders need to realise they need to cover Fabios position and shuffle to the left when Fabio ventures forward. The same applies when Brayford attacks as well. At the moment Turner and Manga just seem stuck near the edge of the penalty area arc which leaves them exposed.
Sun Dec 21, 2014 9:48 pm
he simply cant defend and never has so might aswell be called a wing back or winger
