The ref bottled it today

Sat Dec 20, 2014 8:59 pm

When Noone scored just after half time, not only did their goalkeeper hang on to the ball to stop Noone getting it back to restart but he then deliberately through the ball away right in front of the ref who did not have the balls to book him as he should have done.

Inevitably, the keeper then gets booked later on for time-wasting, which should have been a second yellow and a sending off

Now. you could argue that if he had been booked for throwing the ball away he wouldn't have taken the risk of a second yellow by dawdling with his goal kicks but that would have been a good thing.

Officials in the Championship are mostly, with a very few exceptions, really poor.

I should add that I don't think that the result would have been any different as we were complete cack today but another frustrating example of the incompetemce of officiating at our level.

Ref was poor today, booked their player for an elbow! Surely it's a red or no foul not a yellow.

How about when city player was hurt their goaly had ball and did nothing with it, while whole Brentford team went to sidelines for advice/drinks! Cannot do that while ball in play was ridiculous by ref. :o

Indeed, and the ref waited for them all to come back on the pitch before dropping the ball to their keeper!

Can't say I've ever seen it before in game.

I honestly thought the ref was good today.
Was no messing about. The slightest bit of shirt tugging on a corner and he blowed for a free kick.
This prevented all the nonsense we usually see.

Also showed is authority booking there keeper for time wasting really early without all the pointless threats and finger pointing to the watch we always see.

Admittedly the fiasco with them all having a drink was wrong but thought he was really good.

I said at the time he should have booked every single one of them but I don't think he even added the eternity it took them to come back for the restart.
