Posession Of The Ball

Wed Dec 17, 2014 8:22 pm

Just watching liverpool v bournemouth and what is clear is that both sides keep the ball well, and that is a big differance between bournemouth and us that they keep posession and we simply dont.

Im not sure about the actual stats but someone posted the stats and they were really bad for us and its clear we just cant keep posession and that is a big issue imo going forward because if we cant keep posession we cant build up and create attacks and also giving the ball away all the time invites the opposition to come at us and score goals.

But i was just interested to hear other peoples opinions on why we are so shit at keeping posession????
And can and will slade identify this problem and fix it????

Because we are a long ball team and willingly give the ball to the opposition. We have been a long ball team for 4 seasons now. We played anti football under malky where we were tough to beat but never strung more than 4/5 passes together. Our best crosser has been converted into a centre midfielder, we have no mobility up front, because we play the percentages.

Football has moved on, its played on bowling green, with little contact allowed, but posession means nothing if you don't score....

Gotta agree with everything you have said really. But we need posession to score and without it that lessens our chance to score.

I agree we dont seem to have much mobility up front and that will continue with kenwynne up there and alf mostly runs about like a headless chicken for me not contributing a lot to our attacking play i hope slade can sort it out soon.
Also you say no mobility up front but would you agree with me if i said we have no mobility in centre midfield either with whitts and gunnarson too slow and too often static players who dont move an awful lot up and down the pitch, that for me is a bigger problem.
