' CARDIFF CITY INTERESTED IN LAZIO DEFENDER '

Daily Mail

Wednesday 17th December 2014

According to reports in Italy Cardiff City are again interested in Lazio defender Michael Ciani. The player was linked with a move to the Championship side in the last winter transfer window but a deal never materialised.

TMW have reported in the last hour that Cardiff are planning to move the Frenchman and could be looking to bring him in when the transfer reopens in the New Year. It has been claimed that talks could begin to between Cardiff and Lazio and there is a good chance this time the player will leave the Serie A side.

We covered the story in January that Norwich City and Cardiff were both close to signing Ciani, the price for the French defender was to be €2.5m. Ciani has a contract running until June 2015 and without a renewal it was likely Lazio would have been keen for an exit during that window but this never happened. It seems Cardiff are again interested in Ciani but they may face competition to sign the player from West Ham Untied. In the past few months the Premier League side have expressed an interest in Ciani.

The Daily Mail reported in September that West Ham were looking to take Ciani on a season’s loan from Lazio. The Hammers missed out in getting Manchester City full back Micah Richards to Fiorentina and therefore they saw Ciani as an alternative. The deal would have been for the player to go on loan with the club with a view to a permanent transfer this summer. However like Cardiff West ham couldn’t make the deal happen and he remained in Italy.

SS Lazio are my '2nd' team and I've seen a fair bit of Ciani. He is too good for us and there is not a chance we will sign him. Personally I think the only players we will sign (if any) are league 1 Russell Slade trundlers, the days of the dictator splashing cash borrowed off himself at 7% surely must be coming to an end now, he will never win this war and will have to start cutting his losses at some point ready to Foxtrot Oscar elsewhere to upset some other bunch of mugs. Sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.

I've never heard of Ciani, but if he's as 'out of our league' as you say, then it suggests the club are starting to send out signals (probably false) that we remain ambitious. We are now too accustomed of tan's smoke and mirrors way of operating to be fooled by this :bluescarf:

Load of garbage.

City need some decent midfielders and strikers before another defender.

I hope he turns us down. Who would want to come to a club like ours?

No player in their right mind would come to this circus of a club despite what money might be on offer.

Think the story is total garbage.

Tan is in the Middle of a fire sale , expect a league one centre back at best.

It really isn't though is it? Why else was Slade employed instead of Pulis? Slade was much cheaper to employ and currently knows the lower leagues for bargains more than Pulis.

Players don't give a shit about clubs as long as the money is right, he don't have an emotional connection to our club so why would he give a shit about what's going on? If we gave him good money I bet he would come

Slade was manager of the year because he got Leyton Orient to the League 1 playoff final and assembled that squad using 30 free transfers. This is why he was brought in instead of Pulis imo so I think Grange End Star is spot on saying Tan will offload the big earners and expect Slade to replace them on the cheap.

Another central defender? I sort of doubt that. A full back would be more needed.

Good player and would improve the squad but other areas of the squad needs addressing first. I doubt he will sign though and this was all a load of shit. However to be linked with players such as Ciani, Stokes and Tom Lawrence is extremely encouraging though. :bluescarf: :bluescarf: :bluescarf:

Maybe he is seen as a replacement for manga when he goes to africa cup of nations and then mangas eventual partner in defense long term. Be good if it were true but i doubt it to be honest. Media bull shit i expect.
