If you look at the case of Ally McCoist resigning as manager of Rangers, it draws parallels with our own predicament at Cardiff city at the moment. McCoist one could say bleeds Blue blood, he is a dyed in the wool Rangers man, I'm sure that he would have wanted nothing more in the world than manage Rangers back to the top of Scottish football. Yet, he has chosen to resign his post at the club, this comes within weeks of the Mike Ashleigh regime taking over control of the club. The rumours are that Ashleigh's team have steamrollered in and made demands on the staff and started a redundancy programme with no care for the loyal staff there, McCoist couldn't stomach it. He feels that he has been pushed into resigning and will therefore invoke a 12 month resignation period, which costs the club £750,000 in extra payment to him. What this signifies is that McCoist, although knowing the precarious financial situation at his beloved Rangers, also is able to distinguish between 'the club' and the OWNER of that club, of which he has no loyalty to.
Just like McCoist, we Cardiff fans now need to distinguish between what was once our club and what is now an owners project. We are all deliberating over decisions regarding loyalty, but as the McCoist scenario shows, it is not 'your club' anymore, when a regime comes in and destroys its fundamentals. McCoist is not afraid to cause further financial damage, as he knows that it's the owner and not his club that he is punishing. I think that we now all need to wake up and realise that we have lost OUR club and that all actions going forward are against just one man, who has chosen to disregard others views and has brought all this onto himself and what was once our club.
