Highlights Whittingham Again!

Mon Dec 15, 2014 10:00 am

Watched the highlights of the game v bournemouth saturday and for f**k sake how many more times to i have to sit there screaming watching whitts prance about laxy dazy in midfield with no urgency and just constantly back off the opposition when their attacking and let them do what the hell they want resulting in them scoring goals again because of this saturday.

Im sorry but whittinghams got a good range of passing and good left foot but other people can play set plays in our team not just him, his positive attributes just paper over the massive holes in his game and many fans just cant see it and he is damaging to this team in a 442 system and our results on the field are proving this imo.. slade needs to drop him

We need a mixture of both really but we need flair players in the right areas like the number 10 role or a winger.

I wouldnt really call whitts a flair player myself but he does have a cracking left foot so you could class that as a flair player for arguments sake.
But we cannot cater for whitts or any flair player in centre midfield in a 4-4-2 because it is damaging to the team as a whole..

Another Witch hunt post starts up again against Whittingham

Whitts has scored some cracking goals for us this season ,

Who else looks like getting goals for us from midfield

A midfield that's been second best in most games this season , you single out Whittingham , what are the other midfield players doing

Quite simply we do'nt have anyone better at the club at the moment

Your suggestion from a previous post to drop Whitts and play Adeyemi , tells me you have'nt got a clue about football

Whitts needs to play in a midfield 3 away , otherwise we get overrun

The time he/we were successful was when malky played him in a 5 man midfield

He doesn't have close to the required amount of acceleration and stamina to play that position. Not with the little amount of help they get anyway.

At least once a game a kicks out at the attacker that has just basically walked past him.

Would love to know where our goals will come from if Whitts gets dropped ;)

That's what I meant 3 central midfielders, 2 holding , whits and 2 wide men

Take your f*cking blinkers off mate just because whitts scores the odd goal here an there dosent justify his place in the team!
The likes of brentford bournmouth etc havent got any big name players like whittingham in their midfield but what they have is energy and urgency, i would try adeyemi simply because he deserves the chance if whitts is not performing.

The fact you think whitts is a complete midfielder that which you need inna 442 shows you know nothing about football aswell pal

Whitts goes missing on many many occasions and is very laid back, when he wants he can be quality.

Spot on annis very laid back and this type of player with no go in him is a massive drain on the team imo. We dont see that quality enough though so he should be dropped.

Dropped?

He is our second highest scorer in the league, and has the most assists of anyone in the team, and double that of the second best person in midfield.

So please, I beg you, tell me how taking Whitts out of the team helps us win games, when so far he's contributing more than anyone else when it comes to the one thing that actually wins games...goals.

Because his overall performance is shit! Same old whitts lovers cant see past his odd goal here and there pointless arguing your all diluded if you think whittingham is a complete midfielder who can play in a 442 effectively and get us promoted. Not working so far isit.

I'll ask you again, tell me how removing Whitts helps us win games. Back it up.

still among the first names on the teamsheet for me even though the current formation asks for far too much from him

If we had a midielder higher up the pitch than him or someone driving attacks forward with more urgency we would create more chances and be presented with more goal scoring opportunitys resulting in more points being accumilated long term. Whitts laxy dazy passing side ways dosent quite cut it for me.

Also the amount of times ive seen whitts backing off opponents leaving them have a free reign in midfield and when players were attacking is unreal. If we had someone there who would make more of an effort to counter this, someone with more urgency than whitts this would also tighten our midfield up make it better and wont cost us as many goals over the season long term aswell thus resulting in more points accumilated.

Im not saying we have the right man in the squad at the moment, i think adeyemi should at least be given a chance, but if not what im saying is the right man to play the role whitts is playing needs to be signed in january and replace whittingham if we are to be succesful this season with this 442 system slade is looking to play.

Hope that answers your question.

I guess it's all about opinions chaps - for example, I see Wales on Sunday had Whitts as Man of the Match against Bournemouth.

the fact that gunnarsson is average makes whitts look worse than he is aswell
