is it me or has football in general gone sh*t?

I honestly can't remember the last time I was entertained watching a match - or one that's stuck in the memory at any rate.

And I don't just mean down the Stadium - on TV too. Prem games are shit, European games are shit, International games are boring to watch....

There doesn't have to be a match laden with goals flying in all over the place, I just want to see a game with some quality football and I can walk away (or change channel) after 90+ minutes and say "I really enjoyed that."

Or has money destroyed the beautiful game once & for all?

I've been saying this for the last 4/5 years now. As a result the only football match I will pay for these days is one in Europe where I can do a City brake at the same time.

It's not you mate its modern day football.All corporate and that just attracts hangers on who don't give a f**k about the match.A lot of grounds have gone sterile!

Sky has killed the beautiful game

Previously I'd watch any football. Now I only watch Cardiff really. I don't go out of my way to watch anything else.

The world cup wasn't long ago remember. That was as good as it gets and the season was never going to match it.

like me you have fallen out of love with the whole experience....i enjoy watching my boy play on a saturday morning and the rest of football just doesnt interest me anymore...

I disagree with this. There is more to watch than ever and if you don't like the balletic style of the PL, Championship has plenty of competitive spirit and the "lower" leagues are less predictable. European games add a different dimension and the home leagues of other countries feature fantastic players and teams like Bayern M are quality.

What I'm getting from this thread is a feeling of loss of interest because CCFC aren't having the barnstorming season we predicted. I understand that but don't blame the game in general for that!

If we were storming the league, interest would naturally be heightened. If it comes down to a photo finish for a PL place, trust me, it will be interesting.

Support the club through good and bad. I'd still rather watch a bad game of football than a good game of cricket!!

Its an age thing.......we all think the football was better, women prettier, beer cheeper, work more plentifull, summers hotter and food tastier.......................its all always been shit.

Couldn't disagree more actually.
While I grew up playing & watching football with strong, hard & sometimes dirty tackles flying about, I think the actual football & technical levels are better than ever.
I enjoy watching European, Premier & Championship games on the TV & wouldn't agree that their 'shit' at all.

A few things about modern football spoil it for me though. Namely, players falling over at the slightest touch, players feigning injury & the big derby games are built up by Sky but usually are a let down in regards to passion on the pitch to games gone by.

I still enjoy watching football as a neutral on Sky.
