Cardiff City fan in the hunt to win £250,000 for the club's January transfer spend

Christopher Goodwin has been drawn against nine other football fans in the unique Sky Bet competition to earn a massive cash windfall to boost the club's kitty

Vincent Tan might not be short of a few quid but the Cardiff City owner could be about to see his club’s coffers grow by £250,000 thanks to one Bluebirds fan.

Christopher Goodwin has been selected at random from around 70,000 Sky Bet customers to take part in a draw to win a quarter of a million pounds for his chosen club.

The bookmaker has picked 10 fans to attend a draw at Wembley Stadium on December 16 where one of them will receive the cash for their Football League club to spend on a player in the January transfer window.

Cardiff City fan Christopher, who refines precious metals for a living, said: “It’s absolutely amazing to be selected in the final 10.

“Cardiff have had a difficult season this year so I’d like to think that winning the Sky Bet Transfer Fund would give Russell Slade a much-needed boost in January.”

Tuesday’s final draw will be hosted by Sky Sports News HQ presenters Jim White and Natalie Sawyer.

Jim said: “It is going to be really exciting to see one fan win £250,000 for his or her Football League club.

“You can only imagine how the chairman, manager and players of the winning club are going to react when they hear the news.

“And the lucky winning fan collects £5,000 so we are going to have a room full of extremely happy people.”

Fans entered the competition by linking their betting account to their favourite Football League club.

Sky Bet head of sponsorship Edwin Martin said: “The £250,000 Transfer Fund has proven extremely popular with Football League fans up and down the country.

“Every fan who entered had a chance of making a huge difference to their club and the second half of their season.”

OH... MY... GOD! A club that has spunked up to £180m against the wall, and is receiving £60m over 4 years in parachute payments has a fan who believes that ...“Cardiff have had a difficult season this year so I’d like to think that winning the Sky Bet Transfer Fund would give Russell Slade a much-needed boost in January.” Ermmm I could go on but I'm fuckin speechless! OH... MY... GOD! Again! :laughing6:

I'll be fuming if we win this to be honest , if there's one chairman who doesn't deserve this it's Tan and it sends all the wrong messages if the football league give £250,000 to us . There's clubs who need and deserve 10 times more than us .

To be fair, this isn't about Vincent Tan, it's about a fan who got off his arse to 'do' something for his beloved football club and was lucky enough to be selected for the final phase and I find it so sad that some of you are so desperate to find any little thing to drag into the 'Vincent Tan Bashing Circle'

The guy still only has a 10% chance of wining, but it must be be very exciting for him to still be involved and to be taken to Wembley for the final phase

Sometimes, you need to forget 'Vinny Tan' and accept that there are still fans out there (like this guy) who aren't so pre-occupied with one single aspect of the club that it clouds EVERYTHING they think or do!

NOTE:
64Jack you really don't count because you're just an incredibly sad ignoramous who is so insecure that you have to troll this site even when your own team are doing so incredibly well

Hey Sven! How the hell you are a moderator on here god only knows. Grow a pair of balls son, it's called banter, and a moderator such as yourself should know how too handle it better than you have. Look at my posts, it's mainly tongue in cheek son. If I wanted to 'troll' I could say a lot more. Grow up!

Championship side Nottingham Forest F.C. have been awarded the Sky Bet Transfer Fund prize of £250,000.

Forest were chosen at random from a pool of nine Football League clubs, including Cardiff City, Exeter City, Fulham, Huddersfield Town, Leeds United, Southend United, Watford, and Wigan Athletic.

Although Forest are currently under a transfer embargo following their violation of FIFA’s Financial Fair Play rules, the club can still use the money to pay the wages of incoming players on free transfer or on loan.

“It’s been great that our title sponsors Sky Bet and all 72 Football League clubs have come together, and it has seen a response from over 70,000 fans,” Football League chief executive Shaun Harvey told Sky Sports.

“Nottingham Forest will be very worthy winners and can use the money for loan fees or loan-players’ wages, but not for transfer fees.”

Former Forest and Scotland striker John O’Hare added: “Unfortunately there’s only one winner and we’re delighted to come out of the hat. The club will be happy. I’m sure they’ll find a way of using the money on young players’ salaries, loans and things like that.

“It will help certainly in what is a very tough and competitive division. You need all the help you can get.”
