Derby County have been named favourites to land out-of-favour Cardiff City striker Nicky Maynard in January with bookmakers BetVictor.
Wednesday 10th Dec 2014
The Rams, who are reportedly in the market for a striker in January, have been given relatively small odds at 4/1 to land the former Bristol City attacker ahead of the likes of Brighton (6/1), Norwich (12/1) and Forest (12/1).
The market on Nicky Maynard - club after January transfer window:
Derby County - 4/1
Brighton and Hove Albion - 6/1
Norwich City - 12/1
Nottingham Forest 12/1
Watford - 12/1
Fulham - 16/1
Wigan Athletic - 16/1
Bolton Wanderers - 20/1
Bristol City - 25/1
MK Dons - 25/1
Preston North End - 25/1
Sheffield United - 25/1
The 27-year-old, who was once rated as one of the best in the Championship, has made just three starts for Cardiff this season and was left out of the squad for their match against Rotherham at the weekend.
Since his reported £2.75 million move to Cardiff from West Ham in 2012, he has played just 25 times for the Bluebirds, scoring three, in all competitions. Although, a lengthy injury soon after his move will go down as the large reason it hasn't worked out.
Derby only have three registered centre forwards on their books - Chris Martin, Leon Best and Kwame Thomas - as the other attacking players line up on the wing.

I agree. He hasn't been given a chance here. Give him a few games and see how he goes. Le Fondre has been given loads of starts but hasn't set the world alight. Give Maynard the same opportunity that has been given to ALF...if he doesn't produce the goods then let him go but you can bet your bottom dollar if we let him go to Derby he will score for fun. Look what everyone said about Rudy !!

He's looked a bit fat for a pro footballer I think, all that injury time off does a player no favours............
I'm sure we can get better...........

Let someone go who could play for a promotion chasing team like derby and bring back someone who didn't cut it at Bolton. Makes sense
