' Stop whining '

Everybody is slagging Slade off,

Yet here he is with 9 games under his belt W5 D2 L2 and it's not exactly the end of the world.

Yes, i was down CCS for Rotheram. Yes it's the first time I could afford to get down since Middlesbrough (and I won't be able to afford it again until at least February, probably later) and yes I felt bitterly disappointed. In the last year I have not been to a game and seen City win! But looking at his stats we're not exactly in danger of relegation.

Isn't it the true test of a team, when you can play badly and STILL win? As he has said himself, these are baby steps. improvement (and don't lie and say there's been no improvement since Ole) has been slow but steady. Our defence has got miles better, and now we've got a couple of clean sheets under our belt I hope there will be more.

Plus, I think we have to remember that him being a league one manager isn't somehow beneath us... we're cardiff city, not real madrid. he's a solid manager who himself said he was taking us back to basics first. Every manager (in the world) has bad games. No exceptions.

Really, I think all of this comes down to misplaced resentment due to Tan and the rebrand. Yes, that IS something that we should be pissed off about, of course it is. But to say Slade is doing badly while he's got 17 points our of 27.

It's improvement we're after, and on the whole we HAVE seen that. Now we're two (2) points off the playoffs and it's the end of the world.

if you'd asked me at the start of the season "would you be happy to play 46 games and get 25 wins 10 draws and 10 losses?" I'd probably say "yeah. why not, 85 points would do me" (and if it WAS all season att hat pace compared to Derby we would be on top of the league)

What's wrong with a little positivity? It would make a nice change.

It is a good sign if you play badly and win, but unfortunately not only did we just play badly, we failed to win against a team who are really going to struggle to stay in the division come the end of the season.
I haven't been one of Slade's critics, I believe he has to be given a chance as he has inherited a squad put together by someone else. From what I've seen so far. he doesn't inspire me with confidence, but his results to date are ok.

Results are not my concern, its the way he manages, I personally dont think he is good enough, a dinosaur of football.

You say 9 games but have left off the abysmal defeats to Millwall and Bolton, while some contend he was also really in charge for the defeat to Blackpool. The fact also remains that the last two home games, Reading and Rotherham, were two of the worst home displays many have seen in years.

Slade is a far superior manager to Ole, and is still finding his way, but many, like myself, are already concerned by his tactics. Regardless of the opposition he lines up every game with 442, as well as the same players (barring injury). We then seem to have one tactic, to hoof the ball long to Le Fondre, repeatedly bypassing the midfield, and needlessly giving the ball away. When it is obvious to all and sundry that these tactics aren't working Slade still does nothing!

At half-time on Saturday many expected to see a sub, or change of shape, but he didn't even tell the subs to warm up until the 60 minute mark. And when he did make some changes they were pointless. Bringing on a forward for a forward didn't change a thing when we continued to lump long balls up to them. Then bringing off a full back for a full back also isn't tremendously inspiring when you are drawing 0.0 with ten minutes to go. The real kick in the teeth for many was ignoring Daehli completely, and then giving Morrison just 5 minutes! It had been clear since half-time we needed someone who could play between the lines, link up play, and beat a man, and Slade has two of the best players in the league on the bench, who can do just that.

Slade comes across as a great guy, and he's definitely better than Ole, but I'm not feeling confident that he's the man who can take us above mid-table mediocrity. I wish him well though, and will happily eat my words if he takes us up.

It is unfortunate that you have not seen many games or on the other hand you could consider yourself to be fortunate. Like many fans I have witnessed the worse football that I have seen over the last 5/6 years at least at Ninian Park/ CCS. Recent performances gave been abysmal so I can understand why fans are disappointed. People pay good money to see abysmal football.

What concerns me is Orient fans pointed out that Slade is clueless and you have to question if this is the case. There was an article in Walesonline a day or two ago which indicated that Slade was disappointed with Kimbo's & Ravel's performance against Rotherham. Firstly Kimbo was no worse and probably better than half of the other players and the other thing is how can Slade be disappointed when he leaves the best quality player on the bench until the 84th minute! Does he expect Ravel to produce miracles in 5/6 minutes. Slade was at fault for not changing it around earlier. It is quite clear that Slade does not want talented gifted players in his team. It appears he prefers to have a solid defence and a team of work horses.

I know what you mean. Players not being paid and winding up orders. 4th division football and Albright bitter Welsh cups
But I agree this year is worse as the owner, manager, colour, badge etc all seem to be working against the fans. Many fans not feeling part of the club anymore which is very sad.

I quite agree, but you won't get a positve response from most of the miserable gits on here. People need to get some perspective and realise how lucky they are. I think perhaps some Cognitive Therapy might be useful!

In the meantime, I'm happy to welcome you into the "glass half full" camp! :ayatollah:

You're all moaning? Jesues. Hate to think what your behaviour would be in our predicament. You should lighten up. Tough league and not half a season gone. It's a marathon not a sprint, bloody get a grip will you.

Re: ' Stop whining '

I agree with both sides in a way. It is early days and he is picking up points which is great and I have said on previous articles including the pre Rotherham match thread where I said I would take a scrappy 1-0 over a classic entertaining draw. But surely Slade or any of his advisors could see it wasn't working and needed a play maker bit of creativity and that's what's worrying :old:

Credit to you mate, saving up to watch your team whenever you can and commiserations to you for catching such a poor display.

The reality is though that for those of us lucky enough to go most weeks that type of display is becoming typical.

That's why people are complaining.

With the benefit of hindsight, the second half performance against 10 man Reading was worse, Rotherham was just a continuation.....

Thats the problem, Saturday was not a one off

An opposing manager would now have noticed we only play 4-4-2. It's not difficult to play against really. I think the quality of player we have has helped us scrape a few results despite our tactics.
