Will Rhys Healey be eligible to play for Colchester? Be interesting to see him face his club in a cup game

Colchester United have been drawn away at Cardiff City, following this evening’s televised FA Cup third round draw.

The U’s reward, for their last gasp 1-0 win over Peterborough United in yesterday’s dramatic second round tie, is a meeting with Championship club Cardiff, in South Wales.

This is the first time in four years that the U’s have reached the third round of the FA Cup.

The last time was back in the 2010-11 campaign, when John Ward’s side eventually lost 4-0 at Swansea City in round three.

In this year’s competition, Tony Humes’ men defeated non-league Gosport Borough 6-3 away, before George Moncur’s injury-time winner saw off the Posh on Sunday evening.

Humes' men travel to South Wales in the new year.

Colchester United will face Cardiff City after the two teams were paired together in the FA Cup Third Round draw.

Tony Humes' side have progressed past Gosport Borough and Peterborough United to reach this stage for the first time since 2009, with George Moncur the match winning hero at the weekend.

They will now have to travel to South Wales to take on the Bluebirds, who currently sit in 9th in the Championship table.

They have, of course, already beaten City boss Russell Slade once this season, beating his then Leyton Orient team earlier in the season.

The match is due to be played the weekend of January 3rd 2015, meaning that our match at MK Dons is set to be postponed.
