' Cardiff boss gives his verdict on West Ham starlet Ravel Morrison '

Monday 08 December 2014

By Nick Wright

Cardiff manager Russell Slade has no doubts about Ravel Morrison’s ability but says the West Ham youngster needs to start making it count if he is to have any impact at all during his loan spell at the Championship club.

‘He is going to be awesome when he is fully fit’ Allardyce praises Hammers’ unsung hero

The 21-year-old midfielder has made just one start for the Bluebirds since signing a three-month loan deal from West Ham back in September.

Morrison was a late substitute in Cardiff’s 0-0 draw with Rotherham at the weekend, and Slade has implored the former Manchester United youngster to start showing his talent in the final third.

“Ravel has the ability and everybody says that,” the former Leyton Orient boss told Wales Online. “Sometimes, though, he doesn’t use that ability in areas you want him to.

“We are willing him to show us that ability in the final third where you can hurt the opposition rather than picking it up off the back four.”

Morrison faces an uncertain future at West Ham but the youngster is due to return to Upton Park on Boxing Day. On current form, an extension to his loan in south Wales looks highly unlikely.

I thought Kimbo done OK considering his lack of first team action.
As for Ravel we should never have signed him considering his lact of frst team action

I actually thought he tried and deserves another chance. :thumbright:
One game is very hard for a player to prove himself in.

He looked a class above when he came on for his debut but then got injured against Blackpool. Shame because he's exactly what we are missing

What about the hours of training? Suppose they don't count as part of assessment, but 5 mins on pitch does?

Agreed can't do much in 5mins but thats not point is it? :old:

I dont buy the training bollocks. I think slade just picks people on work rate alone personally and forgets about talent and ability, neglects it which is damaging results.

If our work horses was working consistently i wouldnt say anything but it isnt and saturday was proof in the pudding that what im saying is true because we lack a spark and creativity and the likes of ravel daehli and even guerra are just that! Sort it f*cking out russell!

Fabio, Daehli and Ravel Morrison will be gone in January. Problem solved.

Without natural talent the problems will be just beginning.

Exactly. We might need strengthening in certain areas but with talent like that in your squad no excuses imo.

From speaking to one of the club's officials at the weekend, I understand that one or more of our squad tend to appear sparingly at training. So no training = no playing feels about right.

Some of the squad would appear to be carrying a bit of timber, as John Gregory once said about Ginola. :thumbright:

i can't stand this Slade guy when he talks shite!! Ravel had 5 minutes. The reason Ravel picked up the ball from our defenders is that Whitts didn't do it, Gunnarson was knackered and crap. Slade is taking us backwards. LISTEN yes we are organised, BUT can Slade take us to the next level????

Annis, get a poll going. "RAVEL TO START NEXT GAME" Come on!!!!!! :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright:

You say we are organised?
We weren't against Reading & Rotherham.
Rotherham cut through our defence constantly but luckily couldn't finish. We didn't close down or press the opposition at all. We couldn't pass the ball, had no link up play & offered virtually nothing attack wise.
I don't call that being organised.
