Cardiff manager Russell Slade has no doubts about Ravel Morrison’s ability but says the West Ham youngster needs to start making it count if he is to have any impact at all during his loan spell at the Championship club.
The 21-year-old midfielder has made just one start for the Bluebirds since signing a three-month loan deal from West Ham back in September. Morrison was a late substitute in Cardiff’s 0-0 draw with Rotherham at the weekend, and Slade has implored the former Manchester United youngster to start showing his talent in the final third.
“Ravel has the ability and everybody says that,” the former Leyton Orient boss told Wales Online. “Sometimes, though, he doesn’t use that ability in areas you want him to. We are willing him to show us that ability in the final third where you can hurt the opposition rather than picking it up off the back four.”
Morrison faces an uncertain future at West Ham but the youngster is due to return to Upton Park on Boxing Day. On current form, an extension to his loan in south Wales looks highly unlikely.
