Cardiff faithful - sleepwalked into oblivion.

Mon Dec 08, 2014 12:41 am

Im just looking back over some old programmes and reminiscing about the good old days. Im sat here thinking, have we missed the boat as a fanbase?

I remember passion on the terraces, that Leeds game in the cup i don't think we will ever experience such like again. Everything has changed. After the move from the old girl we just wanted football to befit the grand new stadium, lets be honest about it. For us as fans we have never really been concerned about money and debts we have always had that desire to be big. We put our last dime on Tan and he has failed us, even the most pro Tan must now be realising its gone belly up. I don't think as a fanbase we have anything left to give, and its evident.

I think we have missed our chance now and its gone too far. Nobody seems to care anymore, as mad as that sounds, and there is a sense of apathy about the place. This forum isn't buzzing like it used to be, there is no banter, no passion in the stands, nobody fighting for our colours, nobody fighting for the shirt on the pitch and we are getting charged through the nose, more than ever before, to witness it all unfold.

It no longer seems like our club. Its just a corporate entity, existing purely to generate money and sponsorships while supporting a squad of players who don't really care to have a decent lifestyle. Its a shell. This isn't Cardiff City and its gone on too long and allowed to go far too far in the hope it may come good. Many people saying we could be doomed as a club by x date or y date - we are already there.

We have sleepwalked into oblivion.

Well put mate but you'll still get the stubborn ones saying. "it's still my club, as long as it's called Cardiff City etc etc"

Cardiff City died a long time ago.

We have already seen "such like again" Man City" Late winner against Swansea for example.

Ninian Park was never called and never has been "an old girl"

City fans have been concerned about money in the past. From the £100,000 sale of Toshack through the Tony Clemo, Bob Grogan, Koumar, Rick wright years etc

We haven't put our last dime on Tan, we just pay for tickets.

Apart from the shirt colour Tan hasn't failed us! We are playing at a higher level than many of us saw during the 70's 80's and 90's have a great stadium and wages and taxes are paid, unlike some sorry times in the not too distant past.

You can speak for yourself but many fans I know do care.

There is as much passion and banter in the stands as there was when we were playing in front of 3000 crowds in the 4th division.

Not sure what you mean by " Nobody is fighting for our colours"

We are not in oblivion, we are in a better position compared to the last couple of decades.

Maybe you weren't there!

I was there and I always dream we would be taken over by a rich man with passion for Cardiff City.

We only got half of that, the wrong half.

Whos responsible for the death of not just Cardiff City 'but football in general??

Sky

Way too much money in the franchise.
99% of players dont really care about our clubs anymore.

Sad times as a football fan.
