Change of tactics

Sun Dec 07, 2014 10:53 am

Slade started off with a win against Forest, we started excellently and pressed high up the pitch winning the ball back quickly, then when in possession we played some nice football with quick and short passing

Where has this gone? The last 2 home games we have allowed the opposition to have the ball, as if to say 'go on then, try and break us down' then when we have possession we just give it away

While Slade seems to have steadied the ship and is picking up points, if he is planning on playing this way he needs to add a lot of pace so we can counter quickly. At the moment we go forward, only to run out of options and either lose the ball or go back and then hopelessly punt the ball forward

yes, I was hoping Slade was to introduce high tempo, pressing high up the pitch. A real shock to the system to see how Rotherham were allowed the freedom of Cardiff to play their own game without any pressure

It was the same with Reading who controlled the game, even with 10 men. It's ok setting up like that away from home against the better teams but at home against teams we should be beating we should be taking the game too them

We missed Pilkington today, and I believe RS is under pressure to use Kimbo.

Maybe he's been listening to Scott Young a bit too much.
