Any chance of getting back to the Premier League?
By Terry Phillips
Sunday 7th Dec 2014
It is games like this that make you wonder if the Bluebirds really do have what it takes to make a credible promotion push this campaign.
This game looked like two deeply average Championship sides battling it out. The Millers will be lucky to stay in the Championship and if they finish where they currently are, one place above the relegation zone come May, then it will have been a fantastic season for them. On the other hand Slade and his men are looking to bounce back to the Premier League straight away, at least that is the talk anyway, but if they are going to do that they surely need to beat teams like Rotherham at home.

We are miles away. To go up your team has to want it. Ours are not up for a battle.

Totally agree

I don't want to go up.....We need the battle with Tan....Season ticket sales is that battle, that will get hidden in a promotion push

Agree now is the time to push on vs Tan cos others have now woken up to what has happened

Totally agree, everything that's wrong now is down to tan and the rebrand,it's no fun watching them play in red,45 years I've been going and am not going to renew my season ticket. He has ripped the sole out of our club. Previously I wasn't anti tan but now I am totally, let's get it going and get him out now.

Not this season.

Automatic top two NO possible play offs and let the lottery begin

The club as a whole is no way near ready to go up,we need a couple of years in this league to solidify.

Tan wants out but he is not going to leave unless the money is right for him. At the moment he is asking too much.
Promotion to the premier will increase the stock of the club although it would be a lot higher if we had a decent squad now. Promotion could be our best bet to Tan leave.
However my preferred way is we remain in the championship, even go down, everyone turns against him, we become rarer rude to him and he sells up on the cheap leaving us in a good position as he has promised. Lets see if he is a man of his word.

I do have a confession, I got a bit carried away with believing we could get a play-off spot after the recent results, I assumed the players would get better as the season went on and start playing a bit of football.
it wasn't even a loss that shattered that belief I had. That 0 - 0 for me was just as bad as a loss as it ended mine any many others' belief in the team

We are a mid table team at best. I think we will finish around 10th to 15th. Never agreed with those who said we would be relegated as soon as Slade was appointed, and didn't agree with people who reckoned we had the best squad in this division. Said since day one, we may have the biggest squad, nowhere near the best though. This current set up has absolutely no chance of promotion. Be interesting to see what happens in January.

That's a good summary, the Jan window is the only hope of a push for a decent season. As you said, the current squad won't cut the mustard. The possession stats are truly shocking for a home team, we need players who can retain and pass the ball better

Problem is he as some players who obviously don't fit into what he wants, maybe just maybe he will bring players to balance team as at moment very good players but defininatly not slades type! All managers need some like that, ( look at malky famous for it!) So be interesting in Jan see who comes in. I think we will Be top 6 after that the who knows?

There is next to no chance of this club returning to the Premier League.
The owner purged the club of anyone with football knowledge and replaced them with accountants from his hotel group.
The previous manager was allowed to waste millions bringing in players on fat salaries no better than the ones already here.
The owner deliberately over-promoted a lower league journeyman as current manager to ensure he retains complete control.
The current manager is out of his depth and approaches a home game v Rotherham as if its a relegation dogfight in League 1. Anyone with any skill - Morrison, Daehli, Guerra, Fabio - are kept well away from the starting 11.
After appointing a novice at Championship level, the club recruit a reject from Port Talbot Town as his number 1.
The fans are divided and deserting in droves.
The players look frankly unconvinced by any of it.

Qpr fans were saying the same thing no chance etc etc but they went up through the play offs ,this league is Shit and I think we could go on a run and go up

Of course we have given fact only 2points off sixth place and about 7 pnts top 2! Plus champ I is wide open this season!

Pretty much the same was being said 2 years ago when we lost our first Home game that season against Peterborough, a team who at that time were rock bottom of the Championship. Look what happened that season.
Whatever the eventual outcome this season, in my opinion, yesterdays result will have little impact. There are positives, even in games like we had yesterday, and the biggest is that we have stopped shipping goals and that's a clear sign we are turning a corner.
In an average season we are on course for the playoffs, but this is not an average season, it's the most open Championship in a decade and right now any team to hit a run could force thier way into the promotion places. Even after yesterday we have as good a chance as any other team.
In my opinion everything is still up for grabs.

There is no reason yet why we can't. There are no obviously strong teams as yet in the division. We made Ipswich look very ordinary a few weeks ago, and now they're nearly top. Norwich played very well against us for one half but have only won 2 games since.
There must be at least 10 teams with fans asking the same questions as ours, "are we good enough?".
I would say that we are by no means out of it yet. Russell seems to have put some backbone in the team which makes us hard to beat. We got promoted as a team who were hard to beat, after all. Even in the best of seasons there will be some poor performances. Don't forget we lost twice to a relegated team (Peterborough) when we got promoted.
Let's keep the faith and put yesterday's performance behind us

After last weeks battling performance against Watford, my answer would have been yes, however after yesterdays very disappointing performance where we lucky to get the draw, my answer is a big No,

Agreed Playoffs easily achievable, top two possible but looking unlikely at the moment, but plenty of time left yet and a transfer window.
Sun Dec 07, 2014 6:14 pm
It will depend if we want it by the end of the January transfer window.

We were awful but if you asked fans last week you would have had a different response, to many judge after a bad performance. Last week we battled and fought and earned a great win. Inconsistent.

It's poor and as bad as we have been sides don't have the quality to capitalise. Rotherham weren't unlucky, they outplayed us yet still didn't have enough to beat us.
