Given way too much stick. Dave Jones should have created a way to play that didn't rely so desperately on him. If he was able to be all that we wanted him to be he'd have been in the prem his entire career.

Also some people think he came back from his England cap a different player neglecting he was injured for about three months and then out scored (from memory) Bellamy and Chopra for the rest of the season.

This guy was dripping with ability,just a bit to laid back.Still his partnership with chopra was one of the best in our entire history.Those days we played some of the best football ever,cheers jay you were a joy to watch at times BLUEBIRDS!

Class act for us, never got the credit because he wasn't a headless chicken.

Remember being underwhelmed when he signed (along with the majority of city support!) but boy did he prove me wrong. A Cardiff star & will always fondly remember his days in a City shirt.

One to one against the goal....who would we have...got to be Jay.

Shit out in the play off final against Blackpool by allegedly refusing to have a painkilling jab to see him throught he game.

allegedly being the operative word.

Loved watching him play for us. So much quality it was unreal on times.

Remember being gutted when he got booked and missed the gypo game.

He played for england for five minutes and was never the same again.

When he was firing we were fantastic.

Limping off at the playoff final cost us promotion, he was a key player, had he not been injured who knows where we would be now ????

I've met him a few times, although confident he comes across well, and seems a decent bloke.....

Limping off at the playoff final cost us promotion, he was a key player, had he not been injured who knows where we would be now ????

I've met him a few times, although confident he comes across well, and seems a decent bloke.....

He did have a bit more to his game than what we were used to from our strikers...He impressed me before he signed for City at Ninian Park playing for Coventry. Just looked better than everyone else with his first-touch

Dave Jones got the best years out of him but for me he let Cardiff down big time when he went off during the playoff final.

He spent most of his time at Cardiff rolling around the pitch. Dave Jones was sharp to get rid of him after that display in the play off's, if he wasn't match fit he should never have been picked... ?

Agreed. We took the lead again without Bothroyd on the pitch but then did the typical Dave Jones collapse of throwing it all away. We took the lead twice and Blackpool came back twice. Blackpool took the lead once and then it was game over. Nothing to do with Bothroyd, but Dave Jones putting Etuhu on for Bothroyd instead of McCormack was a massive mistake.

Strange how the passing of time makes players seem better than they were. Bothroyd was talented but showed very little passion when playing for us. If I think hard enough then Chris Pike was like Messi and Carl Dale was like Ronaldo !! I just want players who play for the shirt and show some passion for the Bluebirds.
