Young Malaysians to train with Club's Academy sides

Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce that it will be welcoming four of Malaysia's most promising young football players to its Academy, early in 2015.

The players of Kedah State FC will visit Wales for a month's training in January, prior to returning to Malaysia to represent their Club in the 2015 Malaysia Youth Cup and President's Cup the following month.

Tan Sri Vincent Tan and Cardiff City FC would like to congratulate Dato’ Sri Mukhriz Mahathir, Menteri Besar of the State of Kedah and President of the Kedah FA, for spearheading this initiative.

YB Aminuddin Omar(State Executive Councillor for Youth, Sports, Culture, Arts, Heritage & Non Government Organisations) and Anas Hafiz Mustaffa (Chief Special Officer to the Chief Minister of Kedah) met with Cardiff City FC CEO, Ken Choo and Club delegates this week, prior to formally announcing the news in Friday morning's press conference at Cardiff City Stadium.

Ken Choo said: "We support Dato Sri Mukhriz’s excellent initiative and look forward to welcoming the young Malaysian footballers from Kedah State FC to Cardiff City.

“Spending time here will allow them to gain invaluable football experience in the UK, enhance their football careers and experience a different culture. Naturally, as part of the Academy group, they will also witness our senior professionals in action on match-days and in a training environment.

“At Cardiff City we have strong U21 and U18 squads. This year, for example, our U21 team has already drawn 1-1 at Manchester United and has beaten Chelsea 2-1. The young Malaysian players will come into a positive, winning environment.”

Cardiff City's Academy Manager, James McCarthy added: "As a Club and Academy we thrive on working with promising young talent. Our U18s are currently second in the Academy Premier League and in the quarter-finals of the FAW Youth Cup, while a number of our youngsters have gained international recognition with Wales at U21, 19, 17 & 16 levels.

"This stands as a fine example of the work we do at Cardiff City and the flourishing environment into which our Malaysian guests will be coming. We very much look forward to their arrival next month."

Waste of time as they wont be able to get a work permit due to Malaysia being low in the FIFA rankings (unless Work permit rules have changed)

I just received this tweet and I agree with it.

Malaysia ranked 156 , a place behind Liechtenstein in the FIFA Co-efficient , Wales stands at 34 ! The circus continues Annis!

Plus, I rem a certain coach telling me that after working over there for City for a long time, their best of their talent was no better than our Welsh League players at best

If Tan had killed our club, that would imply it was dead. I for one do not believe Cardiff City FC ( THE BLUEBIRDS ), My team, is dead. If that were the case then why am I bothering to travel the distance I do for the game tomorrow? why will I raise my scarf and sing my heart out at 19 minutes and 27 seconds? In memory? No thank you. As cheesy as it sounds, it's still there as long as we the supporters and our families remain blue it will never die.
Vincent Tan was wrong to change our home colours, we all know that. It doesn't mean everything he does is bad, or everything bad is his fault.

I hate the strip and badge, but we as supporters will change nothing by going against or ridiculing everything he does. Let's just unite and agree to change the one thing we want!!!

Bluebird till I die!!!!!

So you couldn't care less about our owner making more of Dave Whelan's comments than there actually is just because he hired Malky, but if we do the same thing regarding these 4 Malaysian's our owner has invited over which is a complete waste of time as it will just give Slade and our staff 4 extra players to look after, it's unacceptable?

The post says Academy, not first team. They are James Mccarthy s problem not Russel Slades. The only time Slade will need to deal with them is if they are good enough to play in the development team or first team. As for Tan and Wheelan, let him argue with whoever he wants, I dont see it hurting us at the moment. As long as he's got the balls to deal with it.

Just a PR excercise, good for the players and the profile of the club in Malaysia, nothing to get worked up or excited about......
