" Not many teams boast the riches City have in their squad "

Fri Dec 05, 2014 1:38 pm

Cardiff City's Adam Le Fondre interviewed today

Le Fondre " Not many teams boast riches we have, just look at our squad and people know there will be a push from us"

Friday 5th Dec 2014

I struck up a good partnership with Kiko (Macheda) and we were doing well, but gaffer wanted more of a physical presence and nobody provides that better that Kenwyne. No centre-half can dominate against Kenwyne - he is the Drogba of the Championship.

For me Kenwyne is 'the Drogba of the Championship'

He did a tremendous job against Watford and I know he is going to get up and create chances for me.

I enjoy playing alongside Kiko and Kenwyne.

'I’d rather play poorly and score'
We are only six points off the top and we are aiming to put a run together. It’s good that we are just under the radar now.

There was added pressure because we came out of the Premier League and the club spent money on players. Fans had big expectations, but you have to earn the right to win and we are doing that now.

Look at our squad and people know there will be a push from us.

I have been playing well, holding ball up. If a striker isn’t scoring he needs to contribute and I was doing that. Personally, I’d rather play poorly and score, but that’s me.

We hope Watford win is a catalyst for us.

Cardiff City now want a top six place and a win against Rotherham would be a big step.

We are working hard and that was crucial at Watford. We rode our luck, but we worked hard enough to earn that.

It’s nice to put the thought that we are rubbish away from home to bed - we have our first away win and want more.

Rotherham is my old club, but a lot of players have changed. It's not really a chance to get one over my old mates, but it is my former club and I would love to score.

They are a brilliant club and I can’t thank them enough for the way they helped me.

They let me go to Reading and helped me progress my career again.

It was great to see Rotherham promoted - their chairman has been great for them.

Le Fondre confident goals will keep coming

I have been playing reasonably well and felt it was a matter of time before I scored.

I hope this is the start of something. I have scored goals all my life, I know I will keep scoring goals. That’s the way I am.

I set standards high and have been missing chances. Nice to score a flukey tap in - Kenwyne did a great job for me

If you mean best squad then you are confusing biggest with best.

The Talent is there, just No leader.

I was excited and optimistic as the squad was being built, but on reflection and with the advantage of hindsight it is too big, unbalanced and no real strategy went into it, the scattergun approach has not worked at all.........

Some great players on the way out though.........

Check out the league table for a start! Seriously though I can turn it back on you. Why is our squad better than derbys, watfords or even Norwich? Why are we better than Boro, Ipswich or Blackburn?

Where is our strength in depth in central midfield? Where are our 20 goal a season strikers? Where is our pace? Where are our wingers that cut through defences and provide quality crosses?

Most of ole's signings haven't made a real impression, yet some still refer to them as being part of the best squad. Others like Kim have wilted, the likes of john not yet proved they can cut it.

I agree League positions do not lie :thumbright:

BUT and I mean a big but, its all about the manager who can manage them, there is an abundance of talent in our squad, just needs managing :thumbright: :thumbright: :thumbright:

Agreed, but us having an abundance doesn't mean other squads don't have the same and more.

I agree, there are other clubs like Derby/Forest/Blackburn with plenty of quality players.

With the news that dikachoi is out for the long term slade might target that area for strengthening in the window. Obviously were lacking pace but that domineering presence in the middle is still missing. Sorting this out could help us carrying on moving up the table.

Sounds spot on to me.

How can people say we have a big squad when slade only considers his chosen 18.
