For Cardiff, Bruno Manga is almost fit but has not trained yet, but unlikely to be back in the starting line-up after outstanding performances from Ben Turner and Sean Morrison at Watford. Meanwhile, Rotherham have added four loan signings, including Tom Lawrence from Leicester City.

Cardiff City face a Rotherham side who have not won for 8 games

The Opposition

Rotherham have not managed a win since 21st October and have gone 8 games without a win to their name.

A goalkeeping error cost Rotherham a win on the weekend, although the point they got against Blackpool lifted them out of the relegation zone.
They currently lie in 21st position a point above Brighton.

This should be a game City are confident of going into, however their record against the bottom clubs is not pretty.

Rotherham United make their first visit to the Cardiff City Stadium to take on the Bluebirds in their next Championship game.

The Millers and Cardiff City haven't met since 2004 and the last time that Rotherham were in the Welsh capital was at Ninian Park in the October when two second half goals from Peter Thorne gave the hosts all three Championship points.

The season before both sides were in League One and the game at Ninian Park in January saw the Millers start well going two-nil up - goals coming from Stewart Talbot on three minutes followed by a John Mullin goal six minutes later. Peter Thorne pulled one back for the Bluebirds on twenty-four minutes with Graham Kavanagh equalising fourteen minutes later. A third goal for City was scored on the stroke of half-time by Robert Earnshaw which turned out the last goal of the game giving the hosts a three-two win.

Cardiff City host Steve Evans' Rotherham United at Cardiff City Stadium on Saturday, aiming for a sixth consecutive home victory. Evans' side are currently only a single point outside of the relegation zone.

MATCH FACTS
Adam le Fondre's goal against Watford sealed City's first away win of the campaign
A successful afternoon could see Cardiff enter the play-off spots at the end of play on Saturday
Alex Revell and Jordan Bowery are currently joint-top scorers for Rotherham with three goals
Steve Evans led the Millers to consecutive promotions, moving from League Two to the Championship in two seasons
Rotherham have only one once on the road this campaign

KEY OPPOSITION PLAYER: Alex Revell
Former players often have a way of returning to leave their mark, and this can certainly be said for Alex Revell. The forward struck twice in the League One play-off final of 2014 against former club Leyton Orient and ex-boss (Current City boss) Russell Slade to pull Rotherham back from two goals down, including an incredible 35-yard volley. Revell has made 21 appearances for the Millers so far this season, scoring three times and is currently joint-top scorer alongside summer signing Jordan Bowery.

ONE TO WATCH: Tom Lawrence
Wales U21 International Lawrence has joined the Millers on loan for a month from Leicester City. Lawrence came through the ranks of Manchester United but moved to the Foxes in the summer. He's yet to make an appearance for the Kings Power Stadium side but made his first start for Rotherham last Saturday against Blackpool and could be involved again in his home country. Lawrence has also been called up to the Wales National Team, but is yet to get on the pitch.

Cardiff City vs. Rotherham United

Cardiff manager Russell Slade looks on ahead of the Sky Bet Championship match.

By Callum Mulvihill,
Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 17:01 UK

Rotherham United prepare for the trip to Cardiff City this weekend knowing that continuing their poor form is simply not an option as the fixtures begin to pile up.

Steve Evans has seen his side fail to win any of their previous seven games, a run which leaves Rotherham just a point above the relegation zone ahead of their meeting with Cardiff.

A late equaliser from Steve Davies left Evans fuming as Rotherham were held to a 1-1 draw last weekend, and he'll be fully aware that similar lapses of concentration will more than likely condemn his side to defeat in the Welsh capital.

An injury to Kirk Broadfoot in the first half of that game could see Kari Arnason handed a start in defence, while Alex Revell is also pushing for a recall.

Cardiff finished November with victories over Reading and Watford, leaving Russell Slade's side just two points outside the playoff places.

Owner Vincent Tan is expecting a swift return to the Premier League, and Cardiff's form in December is certain to reveal more about the strength of their promotion bid.

Slade could stick with the same side which recorded victory over Watford last weekend, but Fabio may be back in defence as a replacement for Matthew Connolly, who picked up a knock at Vicarage Road.

TEAM NEWS:
For Cardiff, Bruno Manga is almost fit, but unlikely to be back in the starting line-up after outstanding performances from Ben Turner and Sean Morrison at Watford. Meanwhile, Rotherham have added four loan signings, including Tom Lawrence from Leicester City.

ONES TO WATCH
Cardiff – Mats Daehli: He looks favourite to start, although Kim Bo-kyung may disagree and will want to wait for the team sheet, and I love watching the 19-year-old Norwegian.

Rotherham – Adam Collin: The 6ft 3in keeper ruined Russell Slade’s day when he saved two spot-kicks in a penalty shoot-out against Orient in the League One play-off final.

WHAT THE BOOKIES SAY:
Cardiff to win 5/6, draw 5/2, Rotherham to win 10/3

Cardiff City's Adam Le Fondre interviewed today

Le Fondre " Not many teams boast riches we have, just look at our squad and people know there will be a push from us"

Friday 5th Dec 2014

I struck up a good partnership with Kiko (Macheda) and we were doing well, but gaffer wanted more of a physical presence and nobody provides that better that Kenwyne. No centre-half can dominate against Kenwyne - he is the Drogba of the Championship.

For me Kenwyne is 'the Drogba of the Championship'

He did a tremendous job against Watford and I know he is going to get up and create chances for me.

I enjoy playing alongside Kiko and Kenwyne.

'I’d rather play poorly and score'
We are only six points off the top and we are aiming to put a run together. It’s good that we are just under the radar now.

There was added pressure because we came out of the Premier League and the club spent money on players. Fans had big expectations, but you have to earn the right to win and we are doing that now.

Look at our squad and people know there will be a push from us.

I have been playing well, holding ball up. If a striker isn’t scoring he needs to contribute and I was doing that. Personally, I’d rather play poorly and score, but that’s me.

We hope Watford win is a catalyst for us.

Cardiff City now want a top six place and a win against Rotherham would be a big step.

We are working hard and that was crucial at Watford. We rode our luck, but we worked hard enough to earn that.

It’s nice to put the thought that we are rubbish away from home to bed - we have our first away win and want more.

Rotherham is my old club, but a lot of players have changed. It's not really a chance to get one over my old mates, but it is my former club and I would love to score.

They are a brilliant club and I can’t thank them enough for the way they helped me.

They let me go to Reading and helped me progress my career again.

It was great to see Rotherham promoted - their chairman has been great for them.

Le Fondre confident goals will keep coming

I have been playing reasonably well and felt it was a matter of time before I scored.

I hope this is the start of something. I have scored goals all my life, I know I will keep scoring goals. That’s the way I am.

I set standards high and have been missing chances. Nice to score a flukey tap in - Kenwyne did a great job for me

This is a good Rotherham lineup. Ledesma, Lawrence and Derbyshire, a good mixture of skill and experience there. I'm surprise they are going through a difficult time.
