Alf.......

Mon Dec 01, 2014 7:04 pm

Ive said for weeks, Alfie needed to have a tap in with keeper miles off to get his account up and running - he certainly got that at Watford Saturday. I actually thought he was fkin about so much the defenders were going to put a tackle in.

So good start Alf, now start hitting the target from further out...

A goal is a goal however I think he needs a proper goal to get his confidence up. The two he has had have been more about other people than him.

people seem to have a lot more patience with this guy than other players he has played pretty much every game since he arrived and has 1 goal… imagine all the stick Jones would get if he didn't score.

He works, he tries, he's a technically gifted footballer and were all behind him to go on a run, he does need to start hitting the onion bag! Great Finnish Saturday!!!!

You would expect, at least I would, any professional footballer to be working hard all the time for what they get paid but admittedly perhaps sometimes they work hard than others.

Adam Le Fondre says that the spell leading up to his winner at Watford on Saturday, to not only give him his first goal for the Bluebirds but also see us win away in the Championship for the first time this season, had been the hardest he had worked in his career.

Perhaps he couldn't have been left with an easier goal than the one he got but with him getting into the right position, as he has more so recently, he's not going to turn that goal down.

'I think it's just the bit of luck that's been deserting me recently, I've been working really hard.

'It's the hardest I've worked in my career and hopefully it's going to start reaping rewards.

'I'm getting chances now, which is what I've been asking for. Obviously I've been disappointed I haven't been taking them so if one falls in my lap I'm going to take it.'

That goal was his first in 17 appearances for us, which isn't a return many of us would have envisaged upon his summer arrival from Reading. Much like I've said before though the role OGS was previously playing him in wasn't too favourable, if he played at all. He's now having involvement and a more settled central striking role to play, which if beneficial for all.

Doing this, and settling with a game plan for all games under Russell Slade instead of the constant chopping and changing of players and personnel under OGS, is seeing us benefit with us up to eighth in the Championship and knocking on the play off door from the 15th, and closer to relegation, when Slade arrived.

Things are clicking into place, now we need the goals to flow for Le Fondre, who thought he had his first goal in the win over Ipswich in October but the big deflection his effort took seeing that taking away with an own goal awarded in the end.

He's hardly technically gifted, technically gifted is someone like matts or ravel.

I agree he works hard, great attitude but at the end of the day he's a striker and it's about goals and he is probably the striker with the most games yet he has the least goals. Jones is soooo much more effective. Look at jones stats he has loads of assists as well as his six goals.

Actually he played most games under OGS and he was hardly the only one who got played out of position or had to sit out some games because of OGS rotation policy.

right, thats fine... but he was a striker playing on the wing, cant exactly have a go at his lack of goals then really

An assist wouldn't have gone a miss.

Re: Alf.......

He's awful, there's a massive love in for old Alf, but if he was a player of another name he'd be crucified!

He ranks as 311 out of 337 in the championship.

For players who've played the number of minutes as him, he's rated the worst player in the Championship. :o

Good old Alf!!!

Macheda is 286 as well.
