Worries about an injury to the influential David Marshall, along with the hamstring injury to Anthony Pilkington, marred the away win at Watford on Saturday and left us with some concerns.
Reports had said that Marshall could be facing surgery on a hernia problem!
That was very alarming but it was also thought that this could mean he would 'miss a huge chunk of the season' as a result, which would have been of major concern to us as Cardiff have become so reliant on the Scottish international.
Fortunately a club spokesman has played this down.
'There is a niggle in his groin and that is being monitored, but it is of no great concern at this time.
'There is no suggestion it is a hernia problem.'
Marshall's importance was no less evident than the win at Watford on Saturday when he made a string of impressive second half saves to earn us our first away win in the Championship after Adam Le Fondre's first half goal.
In the wake of that win Russell Slade spoke glowingly of him, he knows as well as Marshall and we do that he made a mistake in the win over Reading recently but Slade's right in saying you would sooner that mistake came in a game that you're winning 2-0 as opposed to a tight game against Watford.
If surgery is needed our captain is likely to postpone this until the end of the season.
One that isn't so fortune though is Pilkington as his hamstring injury will not only see him miss the game with Rotherham on Saturday it'll keep him out for at least three weeks so he'll be looking at a return in the New Year it seems?
