being positive is great....... but

I was at the game yesterday and the reality was a bit different.

For large parts of the game we were once again second best. Most fans round me thought we'd got out of jail yet again. If we had lost this game by 4 or even 5 goals then we couldn't have had many complaints.

In the first half their left winger ran circles round Connolly who was rescued quite a few times by Pilkington getting back to help out.

Given the choice In the first half I would have swapped either of their wide men for Noone.

For me Kenwyne Jones was a waste of space after 50 minutes when he ran out of steam. Time and time again we had to knock the ball forward into space to relieve late pressure but by that time he'd stopped trying. Towards the end fans around me were calling for Slade to haul him off, even though they knew we had no subs left.

Why did it take Slade and his staff 10 minutes longer than the rest of us to realise he had to swith Fabio and Brayford? Fabio's been tried at right back already at Cardiff without being effective. At left back he's been one of this seasons best players. I think the idea only hit home when he heard fans shouting at him to do it.

I'm as pleased as the next fan for 3 points away at long last but lets not get carried away. If the playoffs were next weekend we'd have less than no chance of getting through with this type and quality of football.

Jones did well. Late on he even stopped chasing the ball so they could lump it back in and give Fabio and Turner a bit more to do, thereby doing them a big favour by helping with their match fitness.

Doesn't Marshall make you smile. Diving around like he really appreciates his mates keeping him in the game. f**k me I laughed so much at all their shots being saved i gave myself a hernia. I suspect it was the laughing that gave Marshy one as well.

You have to smile at good old Slade. Playing us for fools when he brought Fabio on at right hack, then making us beg for him to switch Fabs over to left back. No wonder we sang his praises at the end when he gave us the fist pump and lifted his cap just to show us he doesn't care about the style or entertainment, just the 3 points.
