' How is Russell Slade faring after eight matches in charge? '

Slade has stabilised things, picking up 16 points, and the players know what he wants. Even those who will be leaving in January have been told openly they are not needed.

He has made tough decisions and his trusted group are responding in style. The Bluebirds’ players gave everything they had at Watford and earned their reward.

Yes, Watford had a lot of the ball, but Cardiff stayed calm, were organised and, perhaps most importantly of all, they scraped and battled every inch of the way.

Marshall hit his usual standards of excellence, but this was about far more than good saves. City defended well, they deserved a clean sheet.

The home team were devastated by defeat after having so much of the ball, but Cardiff had every right to leave with the points.

This away win is the most crucial step since Slade took over. The future, suddenly, looks a little brighter.

66% points return if we can continue that ratio it would take us up :bluescarf: .

Slade is finally getting the results thats what matters and yesterday showed we can battle for 90mins :thumbright:

But for me he has been in charge 9 games including Blackpool away.

He's doing ok but I do feel he could be doing better if he changed the personnel in the starting line ups

Feck you're hard to please! :)

Blackpool moved off the bottom of the Championship with a first win of the season against managerless Cardiff.

We played a 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 formation at Blackpool, with Ravel Morrison playing behind Kenwyne Jones!

Had Slade been in charge, surely we'd have played a 4-4-2?

I would like to see Fabio and Ravel inplace of Connolly and Pilkington(he drifts in and out of games to much for me )

Tan, stated Slade was the advisor and could not state he was the manager due to legal reasons.
Slade travelled with the team, coach and plane and was with them in all meetings prior to the game.
Slade in my mind was 100% in charge.

Can't agree with playing Fabio at full back, as the reason we've not conceded so many goals of late, is down to Connolly's inclusion!

I also think that Morrison would need to play more central than Pilkington, but as Pilks is going to be out for a few weeks with his hamstring injury, then Morrison may feature more, but he's not got long left of his loan to us either, so Slade may prefer to keep his own contracted players in the starting line up!

You conveniently forgot that Slade was also with us during our 2 previous games. when we beat Sheffield Wednesday at home and drew at Brighton, so why haven't you credited him with 4 out of 6 points for those games?

I'd imagine that he allowed Gabbs and Young to pick the team for that game, as we'd picked up 4 points out of 6 in their previous 2 games in charge and just asked them to explain their plans!

He clearly didn't like the way we were set up at Blackpool afterwards, as immediately he was announced as manager, he changed the formation and some of the personnel in his first game!

You can only expect the players to give of their best and to fight for the cause and there certainly wasn't enough fight in some of the players (Macheda especially) in some of the games you've identified, but ATM it seems we've got players who are prepared to fight for the cause and are also fit enough to sustain the effort for a full 90 minutes as well!

I believe that Slade has been wrong to ignore quality players and his team selections up until now have not been very good (playing players out of position & persisting with Macheda).

However, it was good to see him bring Kenwyne back who carries far more of a threat than Macheda. I now hope that he does not Make Ralls a regular starter in the absence of Pilkington. Would like to see Daehli out on the left or Ravel Morrison come in for a cameo 60 mins.

I really like fabio work rate and dribbling etc but connolly was outstanding yesterday and big factor in clean sheet. Pilks is very much hit and miss but definitely seems to be settling in a lot better than early games and was another outstanding performer yesterday . Think maybe ravel, daehli or fabs could replace him during this injury. But think RS will go with ralls :bluescarf:

He is doing alright but it is difficult to judge how it will all turn out which is really what matters.

16 points from 24 is a good return but the performances don't reflect that. Will the performances improve and we keep this points ratio up or better? Hopefully so specially as we are still needing our fitness levels improving. So it should only get better.

Th team is getting familiar with itself. Under Ole that was never going to happen. This can only help matter. Of course there will be gaps to be filled and hopefully Slade will do that in January.

Conclusion: Things are on the up but it could still go wrong.

Fantastic, team was unfit and still got them winning games at home despite some not match fit.

I didn't expect us to win all 4 home games in a row.. I expected at most 2 but 4/4 is brilliant.

He has a lot to work on but that will come in time.

Fabio has been man of match around 5 times this season and only played shit v Bolton. As did manga that day... Ruined by Craig Davies.

Let's remember fabio also came on for the injured Connolly last week and played pretty much all of the second half.. We still kept a clean sheet...

Im not fussed when we put people out of position. I.e. Brayford left back, Connolly right back etc..

Putting to one side the fact that imho the team needs to built around the best players such Daehli and Manga
He has made a good start and long may it continue As I said on my thread
To the tune of Its Raining Men

I have the feeling slade is similar to DJ there will no doubt be some great wins but likelihood of being promoted slim he doesn't have the nouse to get us over the line though the talent is obviously in the squad
