" How did Russell Slade set up his team? "
City made only one change, with Kenwyne Jones adding his power and physical presence in attack. He played alongside Adam Le Fondre in attack and they combined for the winner.
Slade stayed with his trusted 4-4-2, while Watford set up 3-5-2 and worked to keep Cardiff under pressure.
The home team had plenty of possession, but at no stage were they able to overrun their visitors.
Ben Turner was magnificent, dealing with the threat from Troy Deeney in style. Turner was simply too good a defender for Deeney.
John Brayford, Matt Connolly and Sean Morrison all played their part, while goalkeeper David Marshall played to his usual high standards.
The key factor, though, in this Cardiff win was that every player contributed to the team effort.
Anthony Pilkington, in particular, was effective going forward and tracked back to do the dirty work as he helped out defenders.
The Bluebirds will play better than this in terms of attacking style, but when it comes to grit, tenacity and character this was an outstanding display.
A first away win and they did it with a swagger, battling every inch of the way to keep their hosts out.
An away win and a clean sheet. Absolute bliss for Slade.
" How does this team performance rate? "
Arguably this is the best Cardiff have played this season. Watford dominated possession, but Cardiff were always cool and composed. They didn’t panic under pressure, with Brayford and Connolly, in particular, making decisive interceptions to stop attacks which were looking dangerous.
Watford had 70 per cent possession in the first half, but Cardiff stayed strong. And, when they were opened up, Marshall was always in command.
This was far from the Marshall show, though, because the 14 players involved all played their part.
Critics have had a go at Russell Slade, but this was his day. The Bluebirds did him proud – and 1,000

Can't disagree with any of that summary and exactly as I seen it today. A full team effort that was given the platform by Big Ben Turner who's looking immense and also has prem experience which will no doubt be of benefit to him.
