Our solid defence...

Sun Nov 30, 2014 9:34 am

Could be the key to climbing the table. 3 very good centre backs in my opinion a top class keeper, Brayford is a solid reliable full back. Would you like to see a solid left back added to this? We are now becoming hard to break down which gives us the platform as seen yesterday.

Not any clean sheets though.

We need a more solid midfield. A set of players that will protect the defence. Those that do not lose the ball to easily and will get stuck in when the opposition have the possession. We are far from that in that department at the moment.

I agree with you but it's an improving defence and two clean sheets away from home on the bounce. It's now a defence with Big Ben.

The defence has been pretty good all year. there were only 2 league games where we have conceded more than 1 goal

Connolly would have been man of match if he played the 90 minutes. Under Malky and Ole he never look that good. Got to give Slade credit here for whatever he has done to the guy.

Always liked Connolly, never let's you down and great attitude. Not a premiership full back but at this level is a great asset.

Absolutely agree with you.

There were a number of times yesterday where Watford just passed the ball right through our midfield as if they weren't there! They went from the edge of their own box to the edge of ours with only one or two passes and I think that our defence has certainly not been given adequate protection by our midfield at all this season.

it was 5 vs 4 in midfield !!!!

We had a 18 yard line mentality - We rode our luck but a clean sheet is a clean sheet.

Yes you are right, clean sheets are the key and getting one at Watford without Manga shows how good we are in defence.....

Yes we have kept 2 clean sheets in recent away games however up until that point along with Blackpool we had the worst record for clean sheets in the Championship. Clearly there are signs of improvement however I do not consider that we have a 'solid defence'.

We still have a habit of giving away sloppy goals & have one of the worst records for conceding late goals.

We missed Turner and Fabio was making defensive mistakes, I think we are improving in that department, Slade has indentified the problems.........

We do look better with Turner back. In fairness to him he always gives 100%. Still say Managa is an auto choice alongside Turner however Morrison has improved. Connolly is also a decent centre back so we are blessed in that area. Ideally would like to see Brayford play in his normal position on the right.
