We will be in the mix come April and absolutely no reason at all why we couldn't get in to an auto spot. We need a run

Too early to tell. Various teams put a good run together and get into a good position. It's to tight to call.

I can't see Brentford sustaining as they have a small squad and surely injuries and suspensions will hamper their run. All we can do is take each game at a time and start looking at league positions after the new yr.. 3 wins could put you top two, 3 losses could put you 16th 17th... It's that close.. There's no out and out clear leader at the moment..

City haven't had a run of more than 8 games without a defeat in years, most successfull teams have 14 or more games undefeated! :o under malky we never went on long undefeated run just didn't go on losing streak either! Before Annis says successful under him? :laughing6:

Your correct though we always bounced back, maybe we can change the theme but very rarely will you go undefeated long in the championship, it's making sure you keep the defeats to a minimum.

We need to win the next 9 just to get on track with the 2 points per game average. Puts into perspective the task we have if we think we can win the league.

But that is based on the top two currently hitting the magic 2 point a game which they are not. I believe our goal is getting in that top six and cementing that before we then chase down the top two. More than achievable based on the little amount of points separating us, more than anything it's important that at the very least the 5 points from second placed remains at just that total.

whoa !!!!!one step at a time !!!

This division is wide open this season, teams have gone top like Norwich,Derby and Forest looked poised to run away with it and have then been hauled back !! A run of 3 wins could put us in top 6 likewise a run of 3 or 4 defeats could send us into or near bottom six !

We just need to keep chipping away, winning at home and picking up at least a point on the road and see where we end up :old:
If we can maintain the start we have made under Slade which I believe is 16 points from 8 games ? then we will be close to 80 points which this season may be enough for automatic and almost certainly play offs as I cannot see anyone running away with the league. :bluescarf: :ayatollah:

Yes your spot on with that post! Slowly but surely seems to be what we are doing.

My point related to winning the league and what I think will be required or very close to it. Your referring to setting the sights lower which is more realistic but won't win us the title.

Yes good point, our mindset has to be bit by bit! You don't eat an elephant in a day.

I voted perhaps cos this championship is wide open and I believe any team in the top 12 could win it if we can start picking up valuable away points like yesterday then I think we have a very good chance :bluescarf:

No to winning the League.

Will we make the play offs,4 wks ago, a def No for me.

2 wks ago still a no for me.

Can we make the play offs, yes as the league is wide open,we have the best squad and Slade showed he can make them fight/battle all the way. :thumbright:

Will we get promotion, Sorry its a No for me under Slade.

I think anything is possible and it's very hard to tell at this moment and no doubt things will be more clear after December. It also depends who is brought in during January. For now it's keep plugging away ...

It has been done from the position we are currently in but only 1 team in the last 10 years, Reading, have won the League from a worse position than we are currently in. Having said that this is currently the most open promotion race for the last 10 years so anything is possible.

Crystal Palace did make the playoffs from a far worse position 11 years ago and went on to win the playoffs so for me that is the more likely route, IF, we are to get promoted.

We have currently played 8 of the bottom 9 clubs and only beaten 2 of them, Wigan & Huddersfield, and we have another at home this Saturday.

After a great result yesterday Rotherham is a "Must Win Game" just to keep us on track for the playoffs. In the 2nd half of the season we really need to be beating these bottom half clubs as repeating our performance to date against these clubs WILL stop ALL hope of promotion.

It's certainly possible, as I look up the table, other than Derby I think a lot of the teams will find it difficult to sustain the start, especially as the season goes on and the injuries grow. I expect us, Nowrich and Forest to move on up, but it's the Championship and we all know anything can happen :?:
