A forum for all things Cardiff City

Since he officially took over I have been embarrassed and quite appalled reading what I read on here and on social networking about Slade.
All this talk about the inclusion of him and him and not any look in for him and him.
He inherited a squad which is not his. These players are not who he signed. Although he has inherited a squad with a lot of quality in this division it isn't exactly easy to motivate them and get the results we should do if you look at our team on paper.
Despite a lot of reviews on Friday of a poor performance but he got 4/4 at home which I have no complaints about, great to see how some almost ripped their foreskin off when Malky got results with not so fancy football.
It's even better that the people who were sceptical of him being our new manager are the ones throwing the criticism out because some of our fan base are embarrassing and can't admit their in the wrong.
The away form has been drab and he has been stubborn on mixing something up to change it but I hope he does get us our away win eventually.
What I like is he doesn't respond to the supporters and what team they would like to see. He sticks to his philosophy. I hope he does include Daelhi, Ravel, Guerra more on around the match day squad but at home he has gone undefeated which he deserves credit for and considering he has only been here for a month and 1 or 2 weeks he has really done an good job so far considering he walked in during the season and we had a rather unfit squad..
It's actually cringe worthy to see how far the criticism has gone considering he has only been here a month and few weeks.. give the guy a chance and get behind him.
You could swear some are Swansea supporters the way they want to knock down people in our club.

I would say Slade has earned the right to continue.
There has been an improvement but you get the feeling it could all fall over very soon. For instance if we drop points at home and continue our away form then we could be in a spot of bother. Of course if we continue the home form and our away form picks up it could be promising. Sadly though it does look more like our home form will give way.

Don't speak sense Dando, that's forbidden on here!
People ignore the good things he's done, and only concentrate on the bad. It'll be the same with any manager who comes in under Tan from here on in.

You could swear he has had more than two months here, our fan base don't half embarrass me sometimes the stuff I read.

Ian, At this moment in time Slade has earned the right to continue
But if we want promotion, we need more experience in the coaching depatments

And that Annis is my concern.
Slade has not been allowed to get his assistant but from what I see has been told who it is. That make me uneasy.

Sorry but all this 'they're not his players' crap really pisses me off.
The notion that any new manager should be given 2 transfer windows to get things right is nonsense.
A good manager should be able to work with a big squad full of quality players like ours.
That's their job!

Totally agree. He has 3 teams of good quality to chose from. Should spend more time looking at his players and not constantly complaint about them. He said himself he had not had the opprydning to look close enough on Daehli last week, where does that leave the rest of them?

The Watford game will be very intersting for me. Macheda is league 2 at best and ALF couldn't hit a barn door.
I guess he will go KJ up front, but does he continue with
ALF - needs to drop to the bench
Macheda - I give up if he starts him with Jones away
Maynard - Bit of a gamble, not really scored in 2 seasons
Guerra - highly unlikely
Daehli - in a 5 man midfield - yes please
Adeyemi - in a 5 man midfield - I am surprised he hasn't tried this away.
I would try to congest the life out of middle and let Daehli & Whitts string some clever little passes together with Noone and pilkington on the flanks.
I agree with he has got three teams to chose from, lets see where he goes

Ian, He asked for Kevin Nugent and was not really backed on it, that for me was wrong.

Id sack him instantly, don't like the man or the way he manages or the way he talks, results have been solid but far to many questions raised for me. I think the next few months he will take us massively backwards.
I'm not sure why everyone seems to have this opinion that you need to support the manager, it doesn't effect me supporting the team or the players.

Too early to judge but not to get behind him ad the team

Said it before but before he arrived we were relegation fodder!

Maybe, he has stabilised the club but a good manager could have easily pushed this squad on and used what we have to really push us on. Instead we have limited ourselves to 18 players and ignored a whole load if talent. Pulis although I don't like him would have made the most of the squad.

Let's remember the reason why Ole was sacked, because he made the most of the squad and didn't limit it.

Utter s**t, David Moyes inherited a squad that won the Premier League, Pellegrini inherited a World Class squad that shouldn't be struggling in the group stages of the champions league, same with Pocchettino with Spurs, look at how they done or currently doing.

So he gets the results at home and is currently trying to work on the away form, great logic.
You're sacking him on the basis of some kind of crystal ball outlook on where we will go in a few months which you have no clue how we will do and end up. Remarkably delusional and for you that is a shock 2b.

Excellent post Dando.
Agree with that. I have to admit I didn't agree with the appointment of Slade at all. But I did say I'll support him.
Despite not great performances, he's got the results in the four home games and that's what matters. I'd rather play shit and win than outplay a team and lose 1-0.
I think if we can get two or three good away results on the bounce then things will improve on the road. Say for example if we got 5-9 points in three away games, I think it would give the players more belief going forward.
He's still got a lot to prove, maybe things would be different if Scott Young was still in the academy, but I can't argue with the start he's made.

Well I don’t agree that’s why Ole was sacked, it was performances and maybe to many changes yes. The problem is we now have Slade who goes from one extreme to the other and is so stubborn that he had to put 3 central defenders on the bench and ive not seen anyone post who thought that was a good idea or any kind of reason why he would do that when he had so many other options he could have used.
Of course I don’t have a crystal ball but sacking any manager you have to go on what you see. Who knows, maybe Ole was just about to turn it around before he was sacked and we would have gone charging to the top of the table but our instincts tell us he wouldn’t have and he was struggling. Well results wise we aren’t struggling under Slade, they are ok overall but personally I still see huge signs of worry with his decision, the way he speaks and his stubbornness.
If it was my club I would never have hired him, if it was my money I certainly wouldn’t give him anything to spend in January as he cant use what he already has to the best of.
Its all down to personal preference but for me I haven’t liked the way he has handled:
Daehli – Thought he has lacked class throughout.
The week he put 3 CB on the bench for me was his lowest point, surely one of Burgstaller, Eikram, Daehli, Guerra could have been more use for us, on what planet is 3 CB’s on the bench a good idea.
Less possession at home with an extra man and losing the second half 0-1 – This shouldn’t be happening, if we had played well and looked good then you can question that stat but I believe we were awful, our goals being a own goal and a pen.
Stubborn 4-4-2 everytime – No matter what nothing ever changes – along with the same underperforming players starting everytime while anyone with flair or an attacking instinct dropped or froze out. Le Fondre doesn’t look like scoring and has offered no assists but has his place every week. Macheda got a couple of goals but out of form. yet Maynard Guerra not even considered, how Guerra can’t even get on the bench or be considered is astonoishing.
I think some people think because he is our manager then we need to support him and cant question any of his decision. I have no problem with those who do but I don’t see why I have to follow suit. I totally disagree, I don’t have to like him or believe in him to support the club or the players, what I type on here makes no difference to me supporting the team on match days.

Classic 2b! Let's instantly sack a manager for having a 100% winning record at home!

What a silly comment, its like me saying lets sack him because of our awful away form. You have to consider everything not just the good but whatever helps you sleep at night.
