It needs more than just the high speed link, the actual train stock needs a total overhaul which may have to be done anyway if the lines are electrified,,,new station improvements have already began on the Rhymney valley line and and stations need freshening up throughout the system.Once all that is done they need to pull all the stops out to encourage more people to use the trains...they are packed at certain times but between 10 am and 4 pm during the week they are quiet...needs to be very cheap ticket prices for the off peak times.

Agree with you there. We all see the posters telling us to use public transport but most of the time it would be cheaper or roughly the same to drive. Prices should be dropped instead of keeping going up.

Saying that though there are changes being made to the stations. As you mentioned the Rhymney line, also Pye Corner is opening soon and I read that the Ebbw Vale station is being moved back into the town centre. Things like this will make it easier for commuters or anyone coming into Cardiff
