How the f**k is ploughing a further £13 million on top of the sale price of £52 million and £10 million refurbishment plus running costs of god knows how many million good news..? I did warn people it will be over £100 million of taxpayers money within a couple years and its on course to smash that very soon.

The WAG had the option to have a cut-price American route but preferred to spend more money on a taxi route to Anglesey for their AM's instead!!!

Don't listen to the Welsh News when they mention the Airport because its just a propaganda tool for the WAG owners as Im sure you would have believed that A380s would be a constant scene at the airport by now.

Sevenside airport WAS the answer but they rather keep Wales behind the times regarding transport like the f*cking trains!!!

you are right over cut price usa i highlighted that in a previous thread! also it was a reported 3mil loan day before yesterday inflation?? and seven side is a project 40yrs old but no one could agree who would be running it wales or bristol at time?? its just a pipe dream as conservationist would have a field day, and any other actavists you care to mention!!! and bristol will have massive objections like they do now if any mention of wag help at airport! its not in their interests to have sevenside, finally sevenside as fck all to do with wag it was previous local councils who suggested it!!!

I'd go with a person who's a former British Airways executive who has his own aviation consultancy: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-wales-23988550

and bearing in mind it was going to be on then Llanwern Steelworks site then the objections would be small surely. But then again conservationists would want everyone to go back in time rather then look to the future

What about the North West airports then, How far is Manchester to Liverpool..? and you even had Blackpool also very close by up until recently.

Regarding being forcibly closing then Im not 100% but I think central government can if they want too.

The Welsh Government was very slow to wake up to the importance of international connectivity in building a strategy for Wales. There were 2 main problems - a risk averse culture amongst civil servants in WAG. Secondly a general lack of understanding and interest by politicians in the importance of route development.

Ireland and Scotland were far quicker to wake up to the potential of Route Development Funds. When WAG finally created one there were so many restrictive rules surrounding it that it it held little appeal. Support for the US route would have required a more "liberal interpretation" of the EU rules around public support for Route Development and the was no enthusiasm for that amongst most civil servants and politicians.

The Government only started showing an interest when the passenger numbers at Cardiff Airport almost halved. If they has shown better understanding when the airport was doing reasonably well, the situation would never have become as dire as it is today. But none of the parties come out of this with any credit. At the last elections in Wales not one party had a policy on route development in their manifestos. In Scotland they all did.

It was probably the right decision to buy the airport - although WAG paid too much for it. But they should now let professionals run it. Problem is this government can't help but get involved in micro managing things they don't understand.
